...Abstract The document enclosed contains a project proposal for review by the Wobbly Wheels IT Governance Board. The purpose of the proposal is to outline a new system to automate shipment size tracking, increasing profitability and competitive advantage. Enclosed is a full description of the project, how it aligns to the business needs, and performance measurements for ensuring business value is attained. Additionally, included is the standardized System Development Life Cycle process, used to ensure the project remains aligned to business needs throughout its life cycle. Wobbly Wheels IT Decision Paper Wobbly Wheels has expressed numerous complaints involving the current delivery system. One of the key complaints is the lack of processes for tracking shipment sizes and the capacity within warehouses and trucks. The lack of formal processes has resulted in multiple turned away shipments, due to overloaded warehouses, or lack of space in loaded trucks. The project below is meant to specifically address this issue of informal shipment size tracking. Project Description The proposed project is an automated system for tracking the weight and dimensions of packages, integrated with the information about warehouse and truck capacity in order to ensure that trucks can be loaded to full capacity without fear of turned away shipments. The warehouse employees would use the system for inputting shipments size and dimensions, while dispatchers would use the information to choose...

...For starters, let us just add that our group meshed very well together. We all had great ideas and suggestions fresh on our minds concerning the narco-violence happening in Mexico. Our focus was not only on the cartels but also on the effect on the country as a whole. Therefore we brainstormed and began to conquer. Although there are many important topics to be addressed about Mexico’s narcoviolencia, Cindy chose to focus on the farmers and crops that are affected by the Cartels greed to take over. Many of the farmers whom grow crops are seriously affected by the violence and extortion by the Cartels. This topic was lost amongst other ideas. Originally suggested a couple of ideas, one was that we do our research conducted on the role America plays in the Mexican Drug Cartels and two, the female’s role in Mexico’s Drug Cartel. In the videos and discussions we had in class it was all about the wealthy and powerful men that ran these organizations but no females were mentioned and it sparked a certain curiosity. Both of these ideas were thoroughly contemplated but later thrown out on account that we didn’t want to get too grounded in policies and treaties and that it might be very difficult to find enough research written about women’s involvement. James was more smitten about the politics involvement with the narco-violence, which we boiled down to the fact that these officials are more than likely terrified for their lives. Finally, also suggests that we research the facts about...

...Decision of Uncertainty Paper As a health care establishment, it is easy to become caught up in the day- to- day tasks at hand without addressing the needs or concerns of the patients. With the change in the economy and the reasons for the emergency room being utilized, it is important to take a moment to see how the flow of the delivery of services can be confined to smooth transitions. This paper will include appropriate probability concepts, rationale, statistical analysis, and a decision tailored to research studies specific to the thesis statement, question response types, and classification of our findings. Thesis Question "Does the emergency room get utilized more by a particular race and is there a reason for this occurrence?" Appropriate Probability Concepts and Your Application of Them to Find Resulting Data To Limit the Uncertainty of this Decision Probability theory is an important part of statistical theory that bridges descriptive and inferential statistics. It is the science of uncertainty, chance or likelihood (Cooper & Schindler, 2008). There are three kinds of probability; classical, empirical and subjective. In this instance, we will focus on a mixture of empirical probability which is based on past experiences and subjective probability which a probability is assigned to an event based upon whatever evidence is available. A closer look will be taken at the records of the patients treated by the emergency care team...

...OLS 274 – Wednesday Hiring Decision Paper During our in class assignment on the Hiring Process I was one of one’s chosen to go through the interview process and be on the other side of the hiring process; the applicant. I will say when I first volunteered I was assuming that I would be the one giving the interview to the potential applicant. So it was a bit of a surprise for it to be flipped on me, but I went along with it anyway. Being a stay at home mom it has been a while that I had to come up with a resume so doing it on the spot was a task itself. And then to walk into a classroom, all eyes on me while I sat through the interview process knowing everyone was listening and judging had me a little lost for words and forgetting basic information about myself. However I do think I made it through the interview with confidence and feeling like a strong candidate for the position. After my interview I had to wait while the other applicant was being interviewed and then again while they deliberated and eventually chose which one of us would be offered the job. As confident as I was and as sure of myself as I was about my interview I was rather surprised that I wasn’t chosen for the position. However after hearing their reasoning I wasn’t chosen I completely understood and agreed with their decision. While it’s never good to not be offered the position you’re interviewing for it was nice to hear it was because they thought I was over qualified for the position. Taking away...

...A Decision of Uncertainty A Decision of Uncertainty Paper There are decisions that people make where the outcome is presumably known and, there are the decisions that people make where the results are unknown. The latter part of the aforementioned statement is also known as decisions of uncertainty. To make these choices with more confidence, we will explore concepts that will formulate these judgments. We also have to include appropriate probability concepts that will help limit uncertainty in certain decisions. This paper will disclose the decision to reside in the tri-state area with the probability of destructive hurricanes occurring. Next this paper will reveal concepts and the outcome from the statistical analysis that was used to determine the final decision and, the tradeoffs between accuracy and precision required by various probability concepts. As a final point, this paper will demonstrate the effects the decision had on the data provided and the decision that was ultimately made. Probability Concepts and Application Hurricane Sandy hit Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 29, 2012. A 900-mile wide storm, Sandy affected the entire northeastern United States with devastating winds, rain and floods. New Jersey and New York suffered the worst from the super storm leaving thousands of people without power for days. People living in this area were not prepared or expected the storm to devastate the area as it did leaving homes and personal...

...Article Rebuttal Paper Shaneika Rogers BCOM/275 November 11, 2014 Dewayne Acree Introduction Apple and Samsung has been at battle for a while over having the best technology out there when it comes to on the go electronics. This started when Apple claimed that Samsung somehow copied the IPhone. Lately Samsung was fined for revealing confidential information about Apple. But Samsung also exposed the same information about their company as well. Analyzing the Reliability Samsung states that Apple have published the licensing agreement on their product back in October and left it exposed for up to four months. Apple apparently has been refusing to provide information on the theory of Samsung stealing their technology. When analyzing the reliability of both phones and electronics none of them are completely perfect. When choosing a phone you look for preference like security, speed, battery life, or camera features. Samsung is known for the microphone issues whereas Apple technology comes equipped with a number of battery issues. Studies have showed that Apple technology is three times more reliable than its closest competitors. When comparing Apple to Samsung you have a variety of things to consider. Apple went under testing and as a result had the fewest number of problems in relations to the IPad and IPhone. Most of the problems found where related to battery life. The best seller of Apple is its interface, camera, and app store which will keep smartphones...

...Running head: DECISION MAKING PAPER Decision Making Paper University Of Phoenix Critical Thinking: Strategies in Decision Making March 20, 2011 Decision Making Paper Critical thinking has several different ways that help one come to a decision. While you are in the process of critical thinking, you do not even realize you are going through the different processes. The fact is, you are. Logical, scientific, and persuasive thinking are the three main types of critical thinking that will be compared. The first type of critical thinking is logical thinking. Again, you do not even realize that you are in the “logic” phase at the time. Thinking just happens. According to dictionary.com, logic is, “The science that investigates the principles governing correct or reliable inference.” In laymen’s terms, this means the way you come up with a solution to a problem, the process in which you take to get from point A to point B. Logical thinking is a process that can be learned to excel in thinking skills in this area. Some are born with a stronger grasp on their logical thinking than others. An example of this is math. (“Logical Thinking,” para 5) Not everyone is good at math. Some have a hard time wrapping their brain around an equation. Others just get it. The second type of critical thinking is scientific thinking. This type of thinking is more defined, much like a scientific experiment. With an experiment, there is observations, recording, organizing...

...Christopher Rendon May 8, 2015 Decision- Making Process Paper XMGT/230 About 2 years ago after quitting my job in Miami, My father called me and said that there was plenty of work up north in New Jersey where I was born. Since I was currently unemployed and my savings were slowly disappearing, I decided to move up. I did not really approach it as a life changing decision, but it ended up being that. I wish I would have known the stages of decision making that were discussed in the readings, I would have taken more time and thought things through much better if I had these tools. My first approach should have been to understand the current state, and determine what would be the desired state as explained in Ch. 3. I needed to find out if my dad’s current offer was as good as my old jobs, or was it better. I also had to ask myself if I could find a better job just staying in Miami. Instead of asking myself the proper questions, I made the decision strictly because of fear of not finding work quick enough in Miami. Another problem with my original strategy was that I did not leave myself many options. I made it seem that going to New Jersey was my only way of finding and keeping a job. It was a job doing contract work in residential areas, so it was not as if the job was boring. I liked the fact that I would be working with my dad getting paid good money, but I still should have looked for other custom made solutions that would not require so much change. Making the choice...

...The Process of Ethical Decision Making E. Alyce Zellmer Liberty University Abstract The purpose of this paper is to delve into a good process of decision making pertaining specifically to ethical dilemmas that will inevitably arise during a counselor’s career. Ethical dilemmas are, by their very nature, not easy to resolve. As such, it is important to have a process or outline with which to structure and guide one’s thoughts and decisions about such dilemmas. Having such a process helps the decision maker, in this case, a counselor, put a little emotional distance between himself or herself and the problem at hand. Writing it all out would also be beneficial for two reasons. Frist this would allow the counselor to tactilely and concretely see the options of action he or she might take. Second, such documentation would be beneficial in its inclusion into the clients file, should such documentation prove needful in the event of a lawsuit should something go amiss. Using such a process shows that the counselor put real thought into the problem and considered all options and consequences and chose to the best of his or her ability the course of action that would do the least amount of damage to the client. The Process of Ethical Decision Making One of the purposes of this class was to equip new and soon-to-be counselors with the knowledge and skills needed to make to think through ethical problems and arrive at a solution that will be in the best interest of one’s client...

...How People Make Economic Decisions Paper Eco/212 September 28, 2010 Making Economic Decisions Economic decisions made by individuals can affect the economy. The principles of individual decision-making include people being rational, economic incentives, and optimal decisions made at the margin. Trading the three economic systems are market economy, centrally planned economy, and mixed economy. Each contains their own attributes on how they contribute to an economy. The current economic system in the United States is a mixed economy. Individual Decision-making People try to be rational. “It means that economists assume that consumers and firms use all available information as they act to achieve their goals. Rational individuals weigh the benefits and costs of each action, and they choose an action only if the benefits outweigh the costs” (Hubbard, & O'Brien, 2010). Economic incentives are motives human beings act upon. This generally can mean people take the cheapest route that benefits them the most. Human beings have to answer the question, “Is there enough incentive or motive to make this decision?” Optimal decisions are made at the margin. These decisions are all or nothing. Within one of these decisions can be marginal benefit and marginal cost. An optimal decision that I made to compare marginal benefit versus marginal cost would be when I decided to trade in the truck I loved so much for a car. The marginal benefit of trading the truck in was buying...

...Social Policy Paper War on Drugs: Take A Stand: Yes, No. Maybe! Learning Team B Kathy Bell Shamlin, Kenneth Fishman, Shorunda Hinton: Instructor: Ms.S BSHS / 355 September 4, 2015 Social Policy Paper War on Drugs; Take A Stand: The Case for Reforming Drug Policy: Most of us cannot imagine a place where it is legal to sell, buy, and use drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, ecstasy. The mere thought of these substances being legal like tobacco and alcohol seems absurd since the War on Drugs, the prevailing approach to drug policy in the United States is in its fifth decade. Yet there are advocates, many of them well respected authorities and government officials, of drug policy reform, the decriminalization of drugs, and even legalization. Has the War on Drugs been lost? Do we need to look at drug use and addiction as a public health problem instead of a crime problem? Should we focus attention and funds on those who use drugs or fight to keep drugs from coming into the United States from other countries? “ We believe the Global War on Drugs is Now Causing More Harm Than Drug Abuse Itself.” That was the half-page headline of a two-page add in The New York Times on June 8th, of 1998. The heading was followed by a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan. The letter pointed out that “U.N. agencies estimate the annual revenue generated by...

...Scenario 1 1. A medical imaging professional, whom coworkers and the supervisor suspect of having an alcohol problem, appears at work with an alcohol smell on his breath, compromised gait, and slightly slurred speech. The supervisor pulls him aside, specifically identifies the signs he has outwardly observed, reminds the employee that, according to the substance abuse policy, this is grounds for drug testing, and requests that the employee undergo a blood test. The employee refuses to cooperate with his request. Is this insubordination, or would the testing be a violation of the professional’s rights? This is insubordination and the testing is not a violation of his professional rights. An employee that comes into work in this state is disruptive and could be a direct threat to his patients as well as his coworkers. According to the EEOC, “an employer may require that an individual not pose a direct threat of harm to his or her own safety or health, as well as to the health or safety of others. However, such determinations must be strictly based on valid medical analyses or other objective evidence related to this individual, using the factors set out above. A determination that a person might cause harm to himself or herself cannot be based on stereotypes." (3) This situation is and ethical dilemma. Also, there could be a high potential for error resulting in this employee being in his non-professional state. His supervisor did pulled him aside and specifically...

I realized that if I didn’t change the way my life was going I would of constantly been getting into trouble. I started to think about joining either the Army or Navy. After discussing it over with my mom we decided I should join the Navy because we didn’t like the idea of me going to Iraq or Afghanistan. I went to the recruiter and signed my contract and to this day it was the best decision of my life. My decision was actually very similar to the decision making steps. I realized that I had an problem that needed to be solved. I then thought about my options and made my decision to join the Navy. After I made my mind up the last steps were the easiest. I didn’t know that back then but I pretty much covered everything I needed to in making my decision the right way. The only thing I think I could of changed was taking a little more time to think my options over, but in the end I don’t...

...Terrence Lathan Ethical Dilemma CJS 211 Kathryn Fenner May 25, 2015 Ethical Dilemma On the evening of February 26th, 2012 17th year old Trayvon Martin lost his life after being shot by George Zimmerman during a scuffle. At the time Zimmerman was not charged by the Sanford Police, due to no evidence to counter Zimmerman claim that it was self-defense and that Florida’s stand your ground law barred law enforcement officials from arresting as well as charging him. According to “Wikipedia” (2015), “ In the U.S., a stand your ground law is a law that authorizes a person to protect and defend one’s own life and limb against threat or perceived threat. The laws states that an individual has no duty to retreat from any place he or she has a lawful right to be and may use any level of force, including lethal, if he or she reasonably believes he or she faces an imminent and immediate threat of serious bodily harm or death” (Wikipedia, 2015). Eventually a jury acquitted Zimmerman in 2013. The Sanford Police stating that the Florida’s stand your ground law prohibited law enforcement officials from arresting Zimmerman as well as charging him shined light on another case in Florida. A 31 year old single mother name Marissa Alexander was prosecuted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and given 20 years in prison. Marissa Alexander went to retrieve her personal items from her abusive estranged husband’s home when he came home. While in the home she claimed that her...
