...A very good morning to One and all present here. my names is ria Agarwal, and im here to tell you about the story of my life. It was a Stormy Thunderous Night. The gods were having a very important meeting. They wanted to do something really different and unique. So they decided to send this baby girl on earth. And there I was. A small chubby baby. My parents were really happy to know that they got a baby girl. They named me Ria. I was a really cute baby with curly hair. Till I was 3, I hardly spoke. My parents got really worried as they thought I couldn’t speak. So they went to tirupathi and put this copper plate with a tongue printed on it in a hundi. And apparently I started talking a lot after that. Now I talk so much that dad says that he wants to get it back. I was a really naughty baby, who wanted to eat everything possible. From toys to mud to veggies. I was the biggest drama queen ever. Ok now lets move onto my school days. I loved school. Everything about it. The school van, the ground, the canteen, the sports room and most importantly My friends. I made some of the best friends in school. We used to have soo much fun! From eating during class hours and getting thrown out. To taking part in all the sports events in school, which reminds me, I was the caption of the school football and throwball team. In 8th, I had the best class teacher every. She loved me. So she made me the prefect in 9th. Everyone was shocked. Including my father. I was on cloud 9....

Brian wants to know if he had lost touch with the empire he created and found out what can he do to make things better to grow more quickly. He mentioned that his company is all about the growth. In North America alone there are 177 franchises and nowadays there is a lot of competition. The first day undercover Brian decided to explore his new business: 1888-WOW-1 Day! It’s a painting company that assures one day completion and high quality work. Brian expected to revolutionize the paint business like 1800-I-GOT-JUNK did for garbage. ...Crap Happens People have always preached to me that we all have a sole purpose in life and “everything happens for a reason”. I detest this saying and I hate to admit that it’s true. Everything does happen for reason. We endure so much crap throughout our lives to build us into the people we are supposed to be. Even the smallest events make us stronger; they keep us grounded by bringing our minds back to reality… What a concept, crap happening for our benefit. I’ve learned that life isn’t a fairy tale; it’s more like a boxing ring. Your opponent throws the punches and you either block the punch or your face plummets to the floor with a single hit. Crap happens though, we have no control over that but, we do have control over the will to pick ourselves up by our “boot straps” and keep on rolling with the hits otherwise we’re giving up on everything that we have endured to get where we are now. In 1997 eight hundred and thirty-nine children were reported molested.1 Two little girls I once knew were not on those records, however. They were molested by their godfather in the summer of ‘97 when the girls were only four and six-years-old. Author Edward Rowan, M.D., states that “younger children with fewer defenses and underdevelopment coping strategies are more susceptible to negative aftereffects and may even show significant impairment in personality development”.2 Ever since then they have both been completely changed. Before they were stripped of their innocence life was much simpler...

...Ghosts have always been with me. Not by choice. At least not on my part. It just happens. I don’t want to believe… but they’ve forced themselves on me. (Thoughtful) Perhaps the old Indian woman did it to me. I lived in her house too long as a child. (Looks at ceiling) At night, footsteps paced the ceiling. Over and over, an impatient march, forever in step to the silent drum. If only this had been my only encounter, I could dismiss it. “The house is settling,” my mother said… but this wasn’t all the house did. (Lights slightly flicker) Lights dimmed and glowed. Her ghostly will stronger than the new world magic conjured by GE. Sometimes she preferred a blackout. She didn’t care for my brother’s taste in music. Blackout! (Blackout) My brother was scared turdless. (Lights come up dimly again. She smiles at the memory of her brother. She is thoughtful a moment and her expression darkens) These spirits are on me like dogs on turds. Always sniffing around. Marking me. (Goes to sofa. Sits and slowly makes her way under the quilt and lays her head sleepily against the back of the sofa during the following) I slept in my room. Well, not really slept. Sleep was never something I did much of, especially early on. My worries at seven far outweighed my need for sleep. Awake. Forever awake. My father had left me. My mother… (Sits up. Then gets up and crosses to coffin) I was always worried mother would leave me too. (She touches the coffin lovingly. Then stops looking very...

...Is there any type of explanation to justify or explain the way this world is now? If there is, what are those explanations for it? I believe everyone agrees with the fact we live in a very corrupted world where evil has taken over and has no control at all. We say there is evil people in the world but is there such a thing as that or is there a force that triggers them to do evil? Let’s be honest with ourselves, have we ever stopped for a second and actually think about all these questions? My answer is no. I have always thought the world is the way it is because there is too much liberalism and we take advantage of that in a negative way instead of a positive one. These are the type of questions a philosophy student would encounter with. Before, I started talking to my friend about what philosophy is I warned her that it would probably make her question her faith and beliefs as in you will be shocked to hear them. Let’s just get this clear; philosophy should not be mistaken as an opinion, because philosophy simply is acquiring all the evidence needed to make a point and question our so called knowledge. Different people surround us with different views on anything in particular but we also shared beliefs, even though the way we practice it might be different. While conversing with my friend Jacky, when I asked her what she thought philosophy was she said “the study of the behavior of human beings” but isn’t that what psychology is? I told her that philosophy is formed by two...

...Never thought it could happen It was a cold fall morning with a light layer of snow on the ground from last night and I was ready to get the day going. I was out hunting this morning with my brother hoping that we were going to get the deer to fill our tags. We split up like we always do. I Went to the swamp he went to the feild. On my way there I was seeing what I thought were bobcat tracks but I didn't worry about it so I went checked to see if there was any markings in the near by tree line, Except there was nothing but another foot print in the trees behind the left side bank. There was nothing that was looking like there was anything that resembled a deer track to a scuf mark on any of the trees near the bank but when I got back from the scan of the area I heard a scraping so I stood still and i sat in the swamp. Then it was nothing that was heard from the scraping until I got back into the tree stand. When the scraping started again I went and started to work the sounds out andthink to of what it could be. I was about 100 yards away from the stand. I started to see that there was bark from trees that had been ripped off so went down to the bay of the swamp. I started see that there was tracks of deer but there were also prints that never seen before. It had the look of a dog but the tracks end on the far left side of the swamp were I couldn't go. I saw movement in the bush that was near the stand where my brother gutted his deer I had a idea what the animal might be...

...What Happens In Boston Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman paints the picture of a middle class family struggling to make a decent living in Brooklyn. The Lomans have dedicated themselves to being successful businessmen under the direction of Willy, the father of the family. Ironically, Willy is fired from his life’s career as a salesman while his son Biff works odd jobs on farms out West. Biff had a shot at success in college and business, but gave up his aspirations after catching his father in the midst of an affair. Learning about his father’s adultery is what led Biff to disappoint his father and let his life end in unmet expectations. Soon after being fired, Willy meets Bernard, one of Biff’s childhood friends. Bernard reveals that the turning point in Biff’s life was his month-long trip to Boston, and that upon returning he gave up his plans to go to the University of Virginia. Bernard tells Willy that “he came back after that month and took his sneakers… and burned them up in the furnace… I’ve often thought of how strange it was that I knew he’d given up his life,” (Miller 94). Burning up his “University of Virginia” sneakers Biff’s literal and figurative effort to give up his future. Instead of taking advantage of his scholarships and possible football career, Biff decided to leave home and work manual labor. Willy’s hallucination in the diner explains what happened on the night Biff found Willy in Boston. The woman’s laughter from the bathroom gives away her hiding...

...a note, the company gets another endorsement of its popular PDA. But insightful companies have discovered that products can be made visible. One way is to create forums, such as Internet chat groups, where customers can exchange information about a product – such as a new medical treatment – that might otherwise have remained hidden. Often, creative approaches are needed to facilitate the discussion. Pfizer, the maker of Viagra, faced an uphill battle when trying to generate buzz for its breakthrough drug, because impotence was a taboo subject. But by pop- ularizing the medical terms “erectile dysfunction” and “ED,” the company transformed the undiscussable into fodder for the bedroom and backyard alike. Myth 2: Buzz just happens. Many people believe that buzz is largely serendipitous. Not so. We have found that buzz is increasingly the result of carefully managed marketing programs. Savvy managers have a portfolio of marketing tactics from which they assemble just the right sequence to generate and sustain buzz. Here are some of the most powerful tactics we’ve identified from our research. Seed the vanguard. All customers are not created equal. Some – the vanguard – have a disproportionate ability to shape public opinion. Increasingly, managers are recognizing that getting their products into the hands of the vanguard can pay off exponentially in how the mass market ultimately responds. Abercrombie & Fitch, for example, recruits college students...

...What Happens During the Trial Events in a trial usually happen in a particular order, though the order may be changed by the judge. The usual order of events is set out below. Step 1: Selection of the Jury. Step 2: Opening Statements. The lawyers for each side will discuss their views of the case that you are to hear and will also present a general picture of what they intend to prove about the case. What the lawyers say in their opening statements is not evidence and, therefore, does not help prove their cases. Step 3: Presentation of Evidence. All parties are entitled to present evidence. The testimony of witnesses who testify at trial is evidence. Evidence may also take the form of physical exhibits, such as a gun or a photograph. On occasion, the written testimony of people not able to attend the trial may also be evidence in the cases you will hear. Many things you will see and hear during the trial are not evidence. For example, what the lawyers say in their opening and closing statements is not evidence. Physical exhibits offered by the lawyers, but not admitted by the judge, are also to be disregarded, as is testimony that the judge orders stricken off the record. Many times during the trial the lawyers may make OBJECTIONS to evidence presented by the other side or to questions asked by the other lawyer. Lawyers are allowed to object to these things when they consider them improper under the laws of evidence. It is up to the judge to decide...

...Fear isn’t always the driving force behind nightmares and bad dreams, new research from the University of Montreal suggests. Instead, it’s most often emotions like guilt, sadness, disgust, and confusion — a discovery that, along with other findings in the study, could contribute to how we understand and treat the emotional basis of nightmares. The study of dreams remains an elusive research field. Psychologists Genevieve Robert and Antonio Zadra aimed to differentiate the content and cause of nightmares, bad dreams, and "ordinary" dreams. They had 572 people write their dreams down in a journal for five weeks, immediately after waking up. The material provided Robert and Zadra with a “dream repository” that ranges from pages of extremely detailed stream-of-consciousness passages to one or two brief lines. The researchers then classified and analyzed the narratives of about 10, 000 dreams: 253 of which were nightmares and 431 bad dreams. Roberto and Zadra distinguished nightmares from bad dreams by what the dreams contained. “Physical aggression is the most frequently reported theme in nightmares,” the study found. “Nightmares become so intense they will wake you up. Bad dreams, on the other hand, are especially haunted by interpersonal conflicts.” They found that death, health concerns, and threats were the most common themes in nightmares and that while nightmares and bad dreams share some of the same negative traits, nightmares have a greater emotional impact. Trauma...

...Explain why revolutions happen? Use one example. There is no possible way of reliably defining why revolutions happen. However it is possible to outline the main causal variables. The relevant factors are: socio-economic structures; short term economic circumstances; the existence of political opposition; the capacity of governments to deal with it. Though saying these are the causes would make it grossly-oversimplified and even though they are separate here it is not just black and white, there are also shades of grey. In broad term it is necessary to distinguish between background factors and the precipitants of revolutionary action. Anachronistic socio-economic structures in war time Russia contributed to the start of the revolution. The Russian population was incredibly backwards and trapped within archaic structures. A whole 70% of the Russian population was illiterate. There was very little education, medical relief or general public health. This was compounded by widespread vodka addiction. They had only extremely primitive tools to work with when trying to make a living on agricultural produce. To strike was considered mutiny and there was no press to help them get their message across to the tsar. This meant they had to be radicalized if they wanted change, for any action they could have made would have been illegal. Antiquated socio-economic organization is clearly a main factor in causing revolutions. Short term economic circumstances compounded this backward socio-economic...

...Hate Crimes and Why They Happen Allison M Thompson Hate Crimes and Why They Happen The Matthew Sheppard Law also known as Hate Crime legislation was created by the powers that be in an effort to deter criminals from committing hate crimes. This legislation was voted into law in April 2009 in a vote of 246 to 175; its purpose was to prevent crimes that were being committed against people because of their race, color, or national origin. Such criminal activity is motivated by bias that is different from other criminal acts. These criminal acts include crimes against gays, crimes against blacks and also crimes against Hispanic’s. All of this crime is committed in ways that are different from other types of assaults. One such example would be the crime of Beaner Hopping; this is a crime against Hispanic’s, where bored young white male will go out in search of young Hispanic male to harass. Such crimes as beaner hopping are committed to send message to their victim. In a hate crime the victim is rarely robbed and in most cases racist’s symbols are used. These crime are very personal in nature, the burning of a cross on the front lawn of a black family or the swastika that is painted on a synagogue are not only personal crimes but also harmful in nature. It has been said that because the First Amendment gives every American the right to speak freely it doesn’t give any American to right to hurt another human because he doesn’t care for his or her natural origin. The First...

...Mr. Charles Tyrone ENGL 1023-016 September 3, 2014 “Poetry Makes Nothing Happen”? By Julia Alvarez Poetry is almost everywhere you look. Teachers use songs and rhymes to teach young children. Mothers sing lullabies’ to their children to calm them. To some people, sitting in a corner and reading a book is the best part of their day. Julia Alvarez writes about the effect that poetry has on our lives in “Poetry Makes Nothing Happen?” I believe that Alvarez is correct in saying that poetry is important, and that poetry affects people’s lives even when they do not realize it. Poetry is a very important part of most people lives, however, people do not always recognize poetry. For example, song lyrics are poetry, and play a big role in many people’s lives. People listen to songs in the car to help them stay awake. People sing and dance to them at weddings and other celebrations. Songs are often played at funerals in remembrance of loved ones. Song lyrics, or poetry, express deep emotions that are often at times hard to relay in any other way. Nursery rhymes and lullabies are also a good example of poetry that people do not recognize. These have been used for hundreds of years in many cultures to soothe and teach babies and young children. They have positively affected many people, and will continue to captivate and help children grow in future generations. All it takes is for someone to open there eyes and take a look around them to see that poetry can be found...
