WRITING ASSIGNMENT
Version 01

Task: To what extend do you agree with the statement: “School is bad for students?” Support your claims with appropriate grounds and warrants.

People may think that children must go to school; thus, almost children go to school every day (this sentence has a problem in how you express the idea) However, arguments have persisted as to whether school is good (can be replaced by 'beneficial') for children or not. Although there are convincing argument on both sides, I strongly believe that it is bad for children because school not only prevents children’s creativeness, but also has negative impacts on children’s (their) health.

Most of (omit) educators claim that school is encouraging children to be individual and different (how does school encourage children to be individual and different? I think you should clarify this a little bit); nevertheless, it is a fact that school is crushing (stifle/ inhibit) kids’ creativeness ( can replaced by 'creativity' to avoid repetition) by asking almost (virtually) all of them to do the same things and not accepting creative children’s characteristics. The majority of students are cast in the same mould made by educators, thinking that model is standard for people who children will be. (express in a clearer way). These acts (not suitable) are the root of being not interested in exploring new ideas or enlarging knowledge since children are getting used of following ( tend to depend on )others’ directions instead of thinking about (using) their initiative . At the same time, it seems hard (hard or not hard) for teacher (teachers) to bias creative kids due to their different characteristics. According to Torrance’s study in 1963 (as cited in Abdullah & Elizabeth, 2005) creative students, who

CARL ROGERS PART I -- DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM [Before the Interview] "From my own years of therapeutic experience, I have come to feel that if I can create the proper climate, the proper, relationship, the proper conditions, a process of therapeutic movement will almost inevitably occur in my client. You may ask, 'What is this climate? What are these conditions? Will they exist in the interview with the woman I am about to talk with, whom I have never seen before?' Let me try to describe very briefly what these conditions are as I see them. First of all, one question is, can I be real in the relationship? This has come to have an increasing amount of importance to me over the years. I feel that genuineness is another way of...

Positive Experience of Jack Finesse (Fictional)

...feeling good about something and that something is the something that made you feel good about yourself. That’s when start to have a better outlook on life. My really good experiences about life aren’t just one big experience, it’s happened multiple times. My first one I can remember is, going to a concert for the first time. The one good thing that has happened in my life is skateboarding. That 7-layered maple wood with pivot metal things and polyurethane wheels is the best thing in my life that’s happened to me. I’ve always played Tony Hawk games and was really good at them but never really got into it until I was 12. I found out one of my best elementary friends Jamie skateboarded. It was 7th grade and all I had was a wal-mart digimon board from when I was in 3rd grade and some Reeboks. I called Jaime over one day so he could teach me how to skate. He said; “I can teach you how to ollie”, which is a simple jump, he maneuvered the board and I said, “wow”. I was so amazed he could do it. After about a week and a half, I could do a pretty stable ollie, I thought I was so cool. After all that my mom bought me my very own pair of skate shoes, which were called Vans. I was becoming a skater more and more, it felt good. Every weekend I would go over Jaime’s house or he would come over mine. He taught me front side 180’s,over spring break. We skated three times in one day early in the morning for about an hour and a half. Then we would go in play a little video games for about 2 hours...

College Admissions Essay: Don T Give Up

...roof over my head, all the food I can eat, a loving family, and a good school. Yes, it sounds like I’m a spoiled child. Although I’d like to think I’m not, I’m slowly coming to the terms that maybe I AM spoiled. I don’t have any major life changes nor anything really special, and this prompt made me think about who was my role model, and/or the best advice I’ve gotten. I don’t have a sports or celebrity that I look up to, and the people that I actually know about are all scientists, so that didn’t really help. But when I thought about who had an impact on my life, I came to a realization. I didn’t need to try at math (at my old school, not CHS) and it was all due to one person, my mom. She’s a major role model to me, always making me push to my full potential. She made me practice math one grade ahead, which I hate. Originally, I thought that my mom was just doing it for no reason, but later when I grew older I realized that she was doing what was best for me. All this prep actually had a purpose later, which was the SAT for college....

...down and I had to let it all out on the table and tell them how I truly felt and that I could not live my life like this anymore. I wanted to live my life and be able to have say of what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. In the book Bradshaw: On the family he says that “Once internalized, shame was no longer available to us to monitor the limits within which our will could healthily function” (Bradshaw 206). I spoke up to how I should have say on what I do and it wasn’t fair how they just belittled me and just made me their human life puppet for them not living out their dream. That’s how it really was; I was living out their dream because they decided to make other plans on in life. I honestly loved playing softball, really I did until I started getting teased and harassed by softball teammates I had on the team. They would make fun of how I looked. The things they would make fun of me was that I had a gap in the middle of my two front teeth, that I had small feet but I was a tall girl, they would make fun of me for having thick eyebrows and sometimes say I was fat. Just really mean things it would break my heart and made me so angry and wanted to give them a piece of my mind but I knew I couldn’t. I wasn’t allowed to I would cry until I had no more tears coming out that’s how much I would cry to my mom and all she would tell me is that to not let words hurt me and that they do not want to burn any bridges with the girls because we had a good team and we were unstoppable...

...awesome experience here at the University at Buffalo and it has all happened so quickly. I can’t believe how fast it has gone by. First day I remember sitting by Starbucks and thinking there are a lot of kids here at UB. I couldn’t believe the diversity that UB had, it is quite amazing for sure. It has been such a ride for sure. Meeting new friends, separating myself from people who would take me away from studying. Going to my first UB football game, and taking my first test. My experience at University at Buffalo has been nothing but good to me so far. I am ready for the first semester to end. I have worked really hard from start to finish, it has been really crazy with school work and late nights studying. I am very much ready to sit back and enjoy a few days off to myself. I am very happy it is almost over because although University at Buffalo is a great school, it’s nice to have a break from the books and the stress that comes from it. A lot has went well for me since I been here at University at Buffalo. I made a lot of new friends, and lots of people from different countries. The overall experience has been tremendous. The transition from high school to not just a college, but to a big University has been going well for me. At first I was a bit intimidated from the size of the school. I got lost several times, and lost my car in the parking lots. I would walk up and down the parking lots, and walk past governors all the towards the football stadium, and have no luck. Finally...

My Life

...and butterflies. I’ve learned that whatever I do in my life it will never be good enough for my parents. The day of my graduation, I didn’t really feel like going but my parents made me. I had my whole entire family there, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma, grandpa and of course my siblings and parents. Driving up to my graduation was pretty nerve racking, I kept thinking to myself what if I fall down during my walk across the stage, but thankfully I didn’t. while I was sitting there waiting for my principle and all the valedictorians to stop talking; it was finally my turn to walk across the stage and for a minute I looked at all my family members so they can take a picture and I thought that for once they were proud of me. I have accomplished the impossible, according to them. I was excited to be done with the torture chamber of being high school, as I said bye to “my so called friends” I was glad I wasn’t going to see them anymore, the only friend I had was just my best gay friend. After my graduation was over; I meet my whole entire family outside to take pictures and celebrate what I thought was something they would be proud of. My parents didn’t even say congratulations to me. For a minute I was dumb enough to think everything will change. They told me I needed to graduate with my class and I tried my hardest to achieve that so they could be proud of me; I attended night school classes all my senior year and it actually paid off, I was graduating with my class, but no...

My Depression

...From the ages of 12 to about 16 I was severely depressed. I didn't want to tell anyone and I really didn't know how. I though it made me weak that I couldn't handle all of my problems. Instead of opening up and asking for help I bottled up and shut down on the world. It all started out with my first really bad break up. It was my longest relationship and I was completely crushed when it ended. I had let someone become such a part of me that I didn't even know who I was without them. I cried myself to sleep for months and shut everyone out. I didn't like to talk about it, I started dating someone else and I just tried to forget about it. If I don't think about it for a really long time it'll go away, right? Wrong. It just started to get worse. Then me and the new boy I had been dating broke up. I didn't have very strong feelings for him so it wasn't nearly as devestating. Everything was okay for a couple months. I'd actually even say it was good. Then my whole world just started falling apart. My best friend told me that I wasn't a good friend, I didn't think of anyone but myself, she was always there for me and that I wasn't worthy of her friendship. Talk about harsh. I had been dating a different boy as well and found out that he had been cheating. I went off the deep end. I stopped talking, I stopped doing things with my friends and I just wanted all of it to go away. So one night I took some pills. I don't know why I did it, I guess I just wanted to block out the world for...

My Philosophy

...my life. Most of those things were life-altering events that really made me question everything about myself. I learned how to deal with those events and to look at the positive in them. Everyone deals with obstacles or barriers in life but the thing is how does one overcome them and learn from them? My philosophy deals with the things thrown at us and how we react to them for the better of ourselves. Family Now the obstacles I’ve dealt with involve my family. Let me give you an overall consensus of how we act; whenever something doesn’t go how we want it and/or we disagree with someone we blow up. Now looking at that, you wouldn’t think we would deal with serious events in a positive way, well you’re wrong. In the past 2 years on my mom side we lost my aunt to breast cancer, and grandma to a severe blood clot; then I personally dealt with the loss of my dad due to liver failure. During those multiple losses we didn’t drift apart due to not knowing how to act; we came together and helped support each other mentally and emotionally. We may not have dealt with them the right way but we dealt with them how we saw fit by just letting our emotions out and talking about how we felt. Another way I know I dealt with them is to look back on the positive memories and then physically I used my crafting and art skills to make “little memorials” for them in my room. The one person in my family that I went to the most and just talk to (and sometimes cried to) during these losses is my...

What happened to the best friend I had 7 years ago who didn't care about what others think? The girl who didn't even bother to think about petty dramas? The girl who had so much self-control yet is super fun to hang out with? The girl who had so much ideas to offer? The girl who was Bianca. I miss Bianca ok. ...resources in terms of validity. In this assignment I am going to be talking about a complex piece of work that I have already done for an assignment, and I will be explaining the value of 3 different resources and evaluating the 3 sources in terms of validity. The 3 resources that I am going to be talking about are: the internet, a text book, and NHS facts. I found all of these resources useful in different ways, and also reliable in different ways. I chose these particular resources because I have many opinions about them, some good, some bad. The mix of opinions is good because I can discuss both sides, and have a good balance between the opinions. The internet The source that I will be talking about first is the internet. The use of the internet helped me a lot with the assignment, this is because I was easily able to just search up what I needed to and then was able to put it into my own words and add it into my piece of work. I think that it also made my work better because I knew that the websites I was using were reliable and all the information in them was correct. And I think that this made my work good because I knew the information was correct and knew that I didn’t put anything in that was incorrect. Another way that it helped to support my work was that it was quick and easy, it gave me the answers straight away, and I didn’t have to take ages looking for the topic that I needed to know about in a text book. I used bitesize a lot, this is because the information that...
