...story to tell, and it is why we can learn from every single person. And this essay is about my short autobiography, which can give you an indication of my personal story. I came into this world on the windy morning of October 15, 1990. I was born in Cua Viet, a small town in Vietnam. I am the 5th child among the 5 children of my parent. I grew up and spent almost my whole life in my country. Now, I am the second year student in Business Accounting- the 2 year program. I have been through many life-changing situations in past 3 years. These situations have had both positive and negative impacts to me. My goals from 5 years ago compare to my current goals are totally different. After finishing 12th grade, I just wanted to become a Mathematics teacher, so I went to Hue University and tried my best to achieve the goal. However, when I was the 2nd year student of the Hue University, I found that I was no longer interested in becoming a teacher. Hence, I dropped the school and wanted to get a better education in Canada and seek opportunities in accounting. Since then, my life has changed. On one hand, starting my new life in a strange country is so hard. When I just came, I faced many difficulties, such as the language, the weather and the life style. Firstly, language was a big matter when I first came. Speaking was one of the linguistic problems for me when I had just stepped in the country. Not only speaking, but also I faced a difficulty when they wrote some words for the certain...

...Lead with respect, not with power. Throughout my Global Lead experience, I learned a lot about what a global citizen is and how to become a better one. I also learned a lot about myself and who I am as a person and leader and also how I lead my life. I believe a global citizen is one who is aware of what is happening around the world; one who genuinely cares and is curious, and one who has the desire to help in any way possible. When I first arrived in Greece and we talked about being a mindful traveler, I realized that I had never even thought about that. I realized that even when people visit America, I am not mindful of their culture. My Global Lead experience really made me realize that I never really took the time to learn other cultures and what was happening outside the United States. The only things I really ever knew about other countries were the things that affected America. I wasn’t even aware that I was not being a global citizen. Being a global citizen means to be aware of things going on outside your country and to try and help in any way possible, even if it is something simple like supporting another countries product. The Greece culture is so beautiful and full of history. The people are so nice and courteous to visitors, especially us when we visited. Almost everyone there knew English, which really surprised me because I am not fluent in any other languages. The fact that pretty much everyone spoke our language showed me a good example of global citizenship...

...improvement of life in your country? Undoubtedly, our appetites are unlimited. People always want more. There is hardly a person in the world who is completely satisfied with economic, cultural or political situation in her country. Sometimes these dreams have a solid background and reasons, because it is impossible to build a perfect society on the territory of a chosen country. Everyone dislikes something about his native country and wants to change these disadvantages. As I speak about myself, I would rather say that I have a few ideas about this issue. I would change several things that exist in every country. When we speak about education in the USA, the UK, India or Russia, we would say that education is not a strong side of any country. People have not managed to create the ideal system of education that would help children develop their potential. In spite of the fact that such countries as the USA, the UK, Australia, Germany or France have solid material basis for education, the quality of education is still low. Very often students from the developing countries are able to compete with the US student who has graduated from the most expensive college or university. However, the material and financial background of his country is poor. Consequently, the problem is not money but the right approach towards children and education in general. I would like to make education affordable for everyone, because the level of literacy is still low in my country. Of course there are...

...problems Venezuela is facing nowadays has forced me, and a million of other Venezuelan citizens, to look for a future outside of our country of origin. I have to admit, even though a lot of people that remain in Venezuela believe that those who left took the easy way out of the problem, I believe is the complete opposite. I left the country where I was born but my heart and soul are still there. Even though more than 4 years have past I will always have the hope on going back to implement in my country all the amazing things I have had the opportunity to learn in Boston and Miami to make Venezuela the country it was 20 years ago, a country worth leaving in. When I first left Venezuela I had a mix of feelings I had never felt before. I had the sense as if I had a knot in my throat that didn’t let me breath properly and an emptiness in my chest as if my heart was not there anyone. I was afraid of leaving and been alone in a place I had never lived before and not be sure when I was going to come back. I was stressed that I all the work I made in my country had to be all left behind to start all the way from the beginning to become “someone” in a place I was literally no one. Most of all, I was horrified to leave all my love ones in a country where there are more murders than in war. Maybe it was going to be the last time I will ever see them. My first...

...Corruption in my Country To start my answer first let’s learn the type of government my country i.e. India has. India is a democratic country and it is governed by the people. People elect their representative of parliament. It has been 69 years India got independence. Today after almost seven decades one of the prime issues the whole nation faces is ‘corruption’. India is a diverse country with variance in religion, language, areas. These factors make difficult to handle various issues. Indian population considers it as a plague to the nation. This plague has spread so wide that individuals had to transfer the black money into Swiss bank to secure the black money. India is considered to be a developing question or third world nation according to United Nations. The technological advancement has been very slow, System is not transparent and which makes things unfair and most of the time person in power has authority to take advantage of his credentials which leads to corruption. Government services are one of the major areas of concern. Government services like Police station, DMV offices, Passport offices and almost all of them practice some kind of corruption. But due to privatization the corruption has been reduced during recent times. Globalization of data has also helped reducing corruption up to large intent. Government is acting proactively against corruption. Different schemes are implemented to make systems transparent. If someone is held accountable to corruption strict...

Saima´s return to Afghanistan was not a normal one. She went back as an American and Pashtun interpreter for the U.S. Army. It was definitely a life full of excitement, emotions and lots of different experiences when Saima traveled to different parts of Afghanistan, and even to America for a short time. ...My Community, My Country, Myself ETH 125 June 29, 2014 Anna Geletka In Northwest Ohio sits, a small town in Anycounty County called Anytown. With approximately 492, people within a half a mile space Anytown is just a small part of the nineteen miles of Hancock County. Within our little town, we are lucky enough to have many city amenities like a family owned market with full service butchers, a salon, a couple restaurants, a bar and a gas station. Along with an outstanding park with a hill for sledding down in the winter, a pool for swimming during the summer and ball fields for baseball/softball season. However, our small town is very short on racial diversity. Our town has 492 people in our town and our racial make-up is 98.2% white and 1.6% African American and 2.6% Hispanic. (http://factfinder2.census.gov/) Of the 183 homes in our town, 73.2% are homes with homeowner living in them and 26.8% are occupied rental units bringing transits into our area on a regular basis-leaving door open for expansion of diversifying the opportunities in our community. Diversity is short in our little town as you can see by the numbers. I believe this is true because the majority of citizens from our town have lived here for generations upon generations. I can attest to this particular statement because my significant other was born and raised around here and his parents were also born and raised around here. His parents lived in the same house 56 years before they were moved...

...“My Little Bit of Country” As a child, you are very security seeking, and everything different from the usual, especially big changes, can seem strange and uncomforting. As we grow up, different becomes exciting, and we get used to the changes. For the most of us. However, there are those who truly cannot deal with these changes – security addicts. In the essay “My Little Bit of Country” from the anthology “Central Park” from 2012, the American writer Susan Cheever writes about her life In New – and how she loves the life there much better than the life on the country. In this essay, I am going to analyse and comment on the text with focus on the contrasts between New York and the country. I would also like to have a look at the themes that are used in the text. Contrasts, contrasts, contrasts... There is no doubt that the contrasts between the urban life and the life on the country are very thought-through by Cheever. She has created a potpourri of contrasts, which emphasizes the bond between Cheever and Central Park. For instance, “Why would I want to swim in someone’s muddy pond crawling with leeches when I could perch myself on a marble basin and cool myself with splashing clear water […]?” This is just one of many examples, where she trashes the country and praises New York, or rather Central Park. In the beginning of the text, we do not exactly know why she hates the country so bad, but what we do know, is that she loves Central Park, and that she just cannot live...

...My Little Bit of Country – by Susan Cheever My little bit of country is an essay from the anthology, Central Park. The author of the essay is the American writer, Susan Cheever. The topics that the essay deals with is the country-life and the city-life. The angle of approach takes place when the main character talks about the ancient yak, which lived in a foreign place in which he originally does not come from. She is using the yak example to amplify her situation when she is forced to go living in the country with her parents. She felt that she did not belong to the country and she is longing after her previous life in the city in which she finds familiar and safe. The city and Central Park illustrates the beauty and the good things while the country portraits the ugly and not so welcoming environment as a contrast. Beauty vs ugly. Good vs bad. Everything vs nothing. She is describing the city as a romantic place of dreams and prosperity where everything is possible and by the hand, you just have to grab the opportunities the city and the environment is giving you. Her father was an artist and the short stories he wrote was the beginning of his masterful portraits of the city and the suburbs. It was stories about long lost world of New York City, when it was filled with river light and when everyone wore a hat. Her parents dreams about living in the post war American chimera in a house with a white-picked fence, instead of living in their rented two-bedroom apartment. Central...

...Vietnam, a small country in the south East Asia, is my country. If I could change one important thing in my country, I would change the way our teacher teach us now, and to do that, I will build a standard school for the students in Vietnam. Education is crucial to everyone and every country. The future of the country depends on the youth and the youth needs to have a good schooling. But in Vietnam, there are still many schools which have poor facilities and lack of effective methods of teaching. For example, many schools in Vietnam now force the students to learn by heart a lot and the test after each semester only test the students' abilities to remember the contents of the textbook. They also don't have chances to practice and experiment. I think a good school is a school with modern equipment and it is where the students are taught how to think, how to learn so they can work more sufficient in the future and that is the reason why I want to build a standard school. A school with modern facilities to support the students during the time they are learning at school and a large library with a plenty of books for them to find out anything they want can encourage them to learn more at their best. One of my friends is now studying in Australia. When she was still in Vietnam, she often got bored with the lessons so she never paid enough attention to the lessons. As a result, her score was really bad. But now, since she moved to Australia to study, she has made a great progress...

...My Little Bit of Country The essay “My Little Bit of Country” is written by the American writer Susan Cheever. In the essay, Susan describes her life growing up in New York and during the text she introduces the reader to the beauty and calm atmosphere of central park, which she is very fond of, while she at the same time tells about the . In the beginning of the essay, Susan speaks warmheartedly about the earliest memories that she has of central park, with her father in his khaki uniform and a roller-skating chimpanzee with a cigar in the central park zoo. Already, we are presented with the postwar feel that was in New York at this time, when the city was filled with a feeling of new beginnings and the pleasant sound of easy-listening jazz coming from every store. Even though she was only around 3-4 years old at this time, she sort of felt a little bit like the zoo animals in the sense that she also felt like she came from somewhere else, somewhere exotic, and in a sense she did. She was from the urban jungle of New York and had already fallen in love with the city and Central Park. But Susan’s parents didn’t share her love, they wanted something else. They wanted more children, and their two bedroom apartment couldn’t house that, so they migrated to a suburban property with a white picket fence, in true 50’s American style. Susan didn’t like this change though, as she loved the urban life that she had with all its urban features. She didn’t like living in the countryside...
