Criticism is abundant in the historical atmosphere. Historians analyze their own work, each other’s work, and archaeological pieces. The criticism they give is either positive or negative. Frank Snowden and Ivan Sertima, for example, criticized how previous scholars supported or debated unpopular theories about Africans. They also examined these theories and gave their own interpretations of them. The purpose of Snowden’s article, “The Negro in Ancient Greece”, is to gather and interpret “scattered references” of Africans in Greek mediums and when possible support them with archaeological evidence. He also analyzed modern scholar’s opinions of Negroes role in ancient Greece. Ned Wechselman reviewed Ivan Sertima’s book They Came Before Columbus.
