Janice Fabro writes an interesting article titled Plagiarism in which she provides two examples of plagiarism to shows the serious effects of plagiarizing another’s work. The first is of Viswanathan, who after admitting plagiarizing parts of her novel How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life lost book and movie deals as a consequence of the plagiarism. The second example was from Ohio University where Thomas Matrka, a mechanical engineer who had attend the University, found many plagiarized theses. The repercussions of the plagiarized theses papers from Ohio University varied from one student having their master’s degree withdrawn, while some of the other students were required to rewrite their theses.
