There are few things that will have strong and motivations effects on kids lives. The higher the expectations from the parents are the more motivated the kids will be. They will have higher expectations for themselves too. There are realistic and non realistic expectations. The more realistic and healthy the expectations will be the higher the probability that kids will succeed. Whereas if there is a lack of expectations can lead to various failure scenes such as anxiety, stress and doubts. “Suicide Note” by Janice Mirikitani is one of the reading that we discuss in class that talk about parents high expectations toward their child. “Suicide Note” by Janice Mirikitani talks about an Asian-American college student who commit suicide. My parents are well educated people who managed to finish colleges in a very critical period in Albania. It was a war time between Albania and Serbia. At that time Albania was considered one of the poorest countries in Europe which that made it even harder for my parents education.The reason that made my parents come to the United States was because in Albania we didn't have hopes for a good future and a good education. When I came to the United States I didn't know how to speak English. I started school and eventually I start learning English. All my high school teachers were impressed about my development. The lowest grade on my first school year in the United States was 85%, which for an immigrant who just came and learned English its a very good grade. But for my parents wasn’t. All they knew is that 100% is the highest grade and they kept on trying to tell me how I have to become a good student and only get
