Leadership Style The Problem Solver likes to discuss potential options and then give direction after getting team input. The effective leader involves people by listening to their concerns. The Problem Solver as a leader, meets only with those who need to be involved, runs effective meetings as needed and makes assignments that speed up the decision-making process. The problem-solver identifies the problem, clarifies goals, and generates alternatives choosing the best solution, then building an Action Plan yet monitoring the implementation. Strengths: Effective in situations where others have access to key information but lack a position to make a decision. Able to use others talents of followers yet still remain in control over the process and the end result. Weakness: Can be a time-consuming process when followers or the leader is more involved in the decision making process that could otherwise have been efficient another way. A2 The Director Leadership style The Director leader feels comfortable delegating tasks to followers that are able to handle the task and have the experience necessary to complete the tasks, yet assumes the responsibility for monitoring the progress.
