...I remember being eight years old, sitting in this enormous chair that would go up and down like a roller coaster at the push of a button. This was my first eye exam, where I received the news that I would need glasses. After finishing up with the exam, my optometrist directed me to the never-ending wall of eyeglasses. I recall being extremely excited because this was the first time I had a say in which glasses would frame my face, and become my new fashion statement. I finally decided to pick out these adorable purple glasses with circular designs on the side. Once my glasses were ready for pick up I proudly brought them home in their charming purple carrying case. Every year after this, I would go to the optometrist for my yearly checkup. This was the one doctor’s appointment that I would always be excited for. My fond memories and excitement towards the optometrist visits have led me to further explore and pursue a career in optometry....

...about one third of the fruits and vegetables used as food (Genersch, 2010, p. 87). In order to save the honey bees from extinction, it is important to first understand what honey bees do. It is also important to know how beekeepers take care of bees so that more beekeepers may be trained for future bees to thrive and for others to be knowledgeable of the bees. Commercial beekeepers transport their bees all around the United States to pollinate the US food supply. Research of colony collapse disorder or CCD, which is the reason for the bees disappearing, is important so bee keepers and scientists can prevent further cases of CCD. Understanding What Honey Bees Do. Honey bees are an important creature that balances the ecosystem. Understanding what bees do is important to maintaining their survival, as well as ours. The major objective of any bee is to form a nest; in the case of honey bees their nest is a hive. In order to build their house, a queen bee and some workers begin making the foundation. Once the house is completed, the workers get the queen settled in and she begins laying eggs. In captivity, the queen is confined to her quarters, which is the brood nest, where she is to lay eggs (p. 8). Where did the queen and her workers come from? If they are in the wild, they most likely came from an old hive by swarming, which is splitting and forming a new hive (Burns, 2010, p. 4). Swarming is “a normal and healthy activity in the beehive” the majority of beekeepers try and prevents...

...HOW…………41 8.6 THE FINAL STEP-THE RELAUNCH………………………………….44 9. CONCLUSION…………………………………………………………………….46 10. REFERENCES…………………………………………………………………..47 1. INTRODUCTION Many people think of a product launch as an event, something that happens with a big bang. The purpose of a product launch is to build sales momentum. A winning product launch delivers sales momentum for your company. But there are very few companies who get it right. A wrongly directed product launch can hamper it to the extent of having to take that product off the market completely. Sometimes, sudden changes in the market also hamper the biggest of business houses. In such cases, a relaunch can provide the best opportunity to turn things around. Interestingly, there are very few if any, examples of brands that have failed and then have been successfully resurrected. This case studies the relaunch of some consumer products that failed to create that initial correct impact on the market and helps understand the process and aftermath...

...Chosen As the Frenchman's Bride (2006) Expecting! series by Abby Green Tall, bronzed Frenchman Xavier Salgado-Lézille isn't a man a girl can say no to easily. Jane tries to play it cool, but she's inexperienced…and a virgin. Falling in love isn't part of the plan…neither is discovering she's pregnant once the affair is over. Xavier knows she's carrying his child, and he wants an heir. Jane has been chosen as his bride! PROLOGUE The poolside, Hotel Lézille, 8.30pm HE NOTICED her as soon as she appeared in the archway between the lobby and the pool, his eyes drawn there as if pulled by a magnetic force. A rare excitement stirred his pulse. He told himself that he hadn’t come especially to seek her out. She seemed slightly hesitant, unsure. She wasn’t the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, but she had a stunningly natural quality about her, which in his world was rare, compelling. In a simple black dress that outlined every slender curve and a generous bosom, she caught his eye again, and he couldn’t look away. Didn’t want to. The soft waves of her dark hair framed her face. Intriguingly, she seemed to be slightly self-conscious. Or perhaps, he thought with a hardened cynicism that had been honed over years, she carefully projected that vulnerable fragility. God knew she had managed to capture his attention in the street yesterday. Her huge, striking blue eyes had momentarily stunned him, rendering him speechless. And he was never stunned, or speechless. Something in their...

...“Quitters Inc.” by Stephen King “Quitters Inc.” A Short Story by Stephen King from Night Shift, 1978 Mini-Reading Unit by Tracee Orman Practices reading comprehension, vocabulary, and figurative language. Quitters Inc. by Stephen King (published in Night Shift, 1978) Quitters Inc. Worksheet ©2008, T. Orman “Quitters Inc.” by Stephen King NOTE to TEACHER: This short story is appropriate for high school students (grades 10-12). It contains strong language that may not be appropriate for all students, so please use your own discretion. I use the movie “Cat’s Eye” as a companion to this story because the first story in the movie is based on “Quitters Inc.” Two differences: Dick Morrison’s son is a daughter in the movie (played by Drew Barrymore) and a cat is used for the “rabbit room.” We also read “The Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket” by Jack Finney. If you choose to show the entire movie “Cat’s Eye,” the second story is called “The Ledge.” It is not similar in theme, but you could talk about the similarities as characters from both must go out on a ledge of a tall building. “The Ledge” story (from King’s Night Shift collection) does contain profanity/ language. This document includes: • Vocabulary crossword for Quitters Inc. • Additional vocabulary exercises (can be used before, after, or during reading) • Vocabulary definitions organizer • Pre-reading anticipatory questions • Content comprehension questions • Post-reading...

...UNIT I INTRODUCTION ------------------------------------------------- Understanding Brand - What is a Brand? Brands are different from products in a way that brands are “what the consumers buy”, while products are “what concern/companies make”. Brand is an accumulation of emotional and functional associations. Brand is a promise that the product will perform as per customer’s expectations. It shapes customer’s expectations about the product. Brands usually have a trademark which protects them from use by others. A brand gives particular information about the organization, good or service, differentiating it from others in marketplace. Brand carries an assurance about the characteristics that make the product or service unique. A strong brand is a means of making people aware of what the company represents and what its offerings are.To a consumer, brand means and signifies: * Source of product * Delegating responsibility to the manufacturer of product * Lower risk * Less search cost * Quality symbol * Deal or pact with the product manufacturer * Symbolic device | | Brands simplify consumers purchase decision. Over a period of time, consumers discover the brands which satisfy their need. If the consumers recognize a particular brand and have knowledge about it, they make quick purchase decision and save lot of time. Also, they save search costs for product. Consumers remain committed and loyal to a brand as long as they believe...
