1. Jim LeMunyon is running for the Virginia House of Delegates seat in the 67th district of Virginia. The responsibilities of a delegate are to work on the legislative branch and create laws for the state. The House shares legislative power with the upper house of the Virginia General Assembly and the Virginia Senate and cooperate on the legislation of our state. In the House, some members have larger roles such as Majority Leader, Minority Leader or Speaker of the House. Jim LeMunyon does not have one of those higher roles and is only running for reelection of the role he is already in.
2. Jim LeMunyon’s top three issues covered in his platform and campaign promises have to do with transportation, education and veterans. Jim LeMunyon wants to help reduce the traffic in Northern Virginia and to achieve that, he wants to widen I-66 inside and outside the Beltway. He also is against the tolls being placed on I-66. LeMunyon believes that education is very important and wants to improve it. He is working on increasing state funding for schools to increase teacher pay and making class sizes smaller so students will have more interaction with their teachers. LeMunyon strongly believes in supporting veterans and was for the recent amendment to the Virginia Constitution which makes disabled veterans exempt from paying local property tax.
