Jim Taylor, Ph.D and professor at University of San Francisco, defines cognitive bias as the “tendency to make decisions and take action based on limited acquisition and/or processing of information or on self-interest, overconfidence, or attachment to past experience.” Taylor also states that bias can result in perceptual blindness, distortion, illogical interpretation, inaccurate judgement, irrationally, and bad decisions. Biases can influence the way a person sees and thinks about other people and the world. There are many biases, name bias is one of them. Name bias is when people assume things when they hear, listen or read another person’s name. Employers who use name bias unfairly judge applicants whom they have not met, and this hurts
