...hypnosis is not. My essay will then try to describe the psychological and physical aspects of hypnosis and finally I will discuss the role of relaxation in hypnotherapy and whether relaxation is necessary for hypnotherapy to take place. History of hypnosis Hypnosis dates back hundreds of years and maybe portrayed as far back as the Old Testament. There is also evidence of hypnosis in Ancient Egypt over 3,000 years ago. There are two main leading men in the study of hypnosis, Franz Anton Mesmer (1734 – 1815) and Milton Erickson (1901 – 1980). Franz Anton Mesmer was considered to be the father of hypnosis. He is remembered for the term “mesmerism”, but this name didn’t stick and it was later changed to hypnosis. Milton Erickson is known as the father of modern hypnosis and is thought to have pioneered the art of suggestions in hypnosis. Milton Erickson developed many tips and techniques in hypnosis that were very different from what was commonly practiced. Milton Erickson maintained that a trance like state was very common, it is quite normal to become so immersed in an everyday activity that people go into a trance like state, and this is so common that most people do not recognise this as a hypnotic state. The true pioneer of hypnosis was the Austrian doctor Franz Anton Mesmer. For a long time hypnosis was known as mesmerism, and this is still used sometimes today. Franz Anton Mesmer found he could cure people of different diseases without medicine or surgery and he believed...

...Debt Vs. Equity Financing Paper Scarlett Halifax Accounting 400 March 25, 2013 Mrs. Marissa Portugal The last five weeks, we have learned many different principles in accounting. One of the most important principles we have learned in that of the different types of financing that are available to corporations. This paper will look at leasing versus purchasing and Debt versus equity financing. To understand and make the right decisions in financing, it is wise to look at your company’s internal statements and needs. Leasing is defined as an effective way for you to manage the cost of replacing business equipment and technology while maintaining your cash flow. Leasing is a good option is you need to do something immediate, but do not have immediate cash to outright purchase. There are also several benefits to leasing such as tax benefit and flexible interest rates. However, purchasing may be a better option for your company if you plan on keeping the equipment for the duration of its lifecycle. What is Debt Financing Debt Financing is defined as financing which is money that a business borrows to run the company. One of the most important things to consider is the interest rate amount at the beginning of financing the loan, but most to their determent this is a factor that a lot of companies seem to fail to investigate or research. A couple of debt financing examples are; short term and long term. A company’s operating loans...

...authors, editors and printers, 6th edn, John Wiley & Sons, Milton, Qld. Which style does my faculty or school use? Some Schools require a different style from the one outlined here. Use the citation style required by your Faculty or School. Why reference your sources? It is important to reference the sources you use for essays and reports, so that the reader can follow your arguments and check your sources. It is essential to correctly acknowledge the author when quoting or using other people’s ideas in your work. How do I use Harvard? 1. In-text citations are made like this Paraphrasing and in-text citations Example: The point made by an analytic philosopher (O'Connor 1969, p. 32) is that values cannot be justified in this way. However Kneller (1963b, p. 102) insists that the theorist will inevitably be involved in value claims. Note: Page, chapter or section numbers may be included in the in-text citation if the cited work is long and information helps the reader locate the relevant information. When the authors name is mentioned in-text (e.g. Kneller in the example above) add year and page numbers only to the in-text reference. Entries that have the same author and year are noted by adding a, b, c etc. to the year, both in-text e.g. Kneller (1963b, p. 102) and in the Reference List (See entries in Reference List below). rev. Nov. 2009 1 Direct quotes and in-text citations Examples: ‘Having a solid plan as part of research design is essential’ (Hatch...

...Phong Huynh English 205 Research paper Villa Diodati Villa Diodati is a mansion in the village of Cologny near Lake Geneva in Switzerland, notable because Lord Byron rented it and stayed there with John Polidori in the summer of 1816. Villa Diodati was originally called the Villa Belle Rive, Byron named it the Villa Diodati after his family owned it. Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley, who was renting a house nearby, is a frequent visitor. Due to bad weather, in June 1816, the famous group spent three days together in the creation stories to tell each other, two of which have been developed into the landmark works of the genre Gothic horror: Frankenstein Mary Shelley and the Vampyre, the first modern vampire story, by Polidori. In May 1816 the poet Percy Shelley, together with Mary Godwin and their son William travelled to Geneva. The journey across the French border and into Switzerland involved travelling through bleak, wintry landscapes. As Mary recorded afterwards in her travel volume History of a Six Weeks: Tour through a part of France, Switzerland, Germany and Holland (1817): “Never was a scene more awfully desolate. The trees in these regions are incredibly large, and stand in scattered clumps over the white wilderness; the vast expanse of snow was chequered only by these gigantic pines, and the poles that marked our road: no river or rock-encircled lawn relieved the eye, by adding the picturesque to the sublime”. The landscape, with its frightening, lonely...

...Overview: Historically, businesses use to measure their performance by traditional financial reporting which focus mainly on financial result (QuickMBA, 2010). Those results provide information about past performance (considered as obsolete) and are incapable to offer information about future performance. Using this traditional method did not give entities a complete and accurate picture of the business to help manager to manage future performance. Robert Norton & David Kaplan have seen the increasing attention to the importance of strategic measurement system that include both financial and non-financial measures (Kaplan, 2010, p.2). To answer the call, those professors have introduce in 1992 the balanced scorecard which is a multi-dimensional measurement system considering more than one source of information and including both financial and non-financial information. The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and non-profit organisations worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals (Balanced Scorecard Institute, 2013). The balance scorecard is a tool that aims to translate the mission, objectives and strategies of an organisation into performance measure. It allows firms to implement strategy and to monitor and manage performance within...

...Milton Jones Research Proposal Paper STR/581 Strategic Planning and Implementation June 21, 2011 Professor: Joseph Fillar Proposal I intend to validate Google’s vision, mission and values statement by expressing the important message indicated in the mission for the company’s success. Google is a company that continue to grow and development thru the innovative process of change. The company has developed a mission statement designed to motive and encourage future success and longevity. Google’s mission is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful” (Google.com, 2011). The mission statement is positive, motivational and long-term which definitely gives the company a future to strive towards. The mission statement helps develop the company as a resource that would be used by anyone who was doing research or just asking a question in general. The mission statement allows Google to use any means possible to organize information. This means the company is not limited to a certain amount of searches or internet usage. The company goal is to “to organize the world’s information” and become “universally accessible” (Google Website, 2011). This goal gives the mission statement direction and flexibility as it does not specify the means, leaving penalty room to speculate how much the company will produce. However, the worlds information could never be made searchable or categorized because some data is private and other...

...Dorand Xhelili-121019 Paper Publishing vs E-Publishing History of Paper Publishing The introduction of printing created a medium for communication like no other. "Until the advent of radio it was the great means of communication". As paper became more widely available in the thirteenth century writing became more prominent. When the need to reproduce texts became greater, Gutenberg's movable type came about followed by a variety of other printing processes. By 1500 somewhere around 12,000,000 books in 35,000 editions had been printed. The world's first newspaper was published in Germany in 1609. But with such volumes suddenly being distributed, regulations were made to prohibit unrestrained publishing in 1637 when England limited the number of print shops and foundries by decrees. "In the cradle years of printing opposition came chiefly from organized calligraphers and illuminators whose livelihood was threatened. The content of manuscripts was seldom in question; most were classics or ecclesiastical writings and many were in Greek or Latin, which made them inaccessible to all but a few scholars and churchmen. But with the coming of the seventeenth century, printing was being viewed as a threat to established power, both religious and political. Though people like John Milton spoke out in favor of freedom of press and against requiring official censoring before publication of any text, governments' fear of political unrest kept even the first American...

...Chapter I The Problem A. INTRODUCTION Having a term paper as a requirement for the graduating students is important. It may be difficult for the students since it is their first time to make this requirement but it is fun to do this, since this is one of knowing the author and the same time develop the researcher’s skill in analyzing and interpreting ideas. In the writing this term paper the researchers gain information and get familiar to the works and life story of the two authors. This term paper focuses the comparative study of William Blake and Walt Whitman. The researchers gather information through research and analyze the data to answer the question stated in the problem. B. BIOGRAPHY OF WILLIAM BLAKE¹ William Blake was an English poet, engraver, and a painter. A boldly imaginative rebel in both his through and art, he combined poetic and pictorial genius to explore life. YOUTH William Blake was born in London, England, on November 28, 1757, the second son of a men’s clothing merchant. From his earliest year he saw vision. He would see trees full of angels on similar sights, if this were not true mystical visions; they were the results of the artistic intense spiritual understanding of the world. From his early teens Blake wrote poems, often setting them to melodies of his own composition. At the age of ten, Blake started at the well-known Park’s DrawingSchool, at age of fourteen; he began a seven year apprenticeship to an engraver. It was as an engraver...

...that mathematical economics is flying high. We also observe that the articles on mathematical economics and fewer points on economic theory, occupy more prominent place in the economics journals. Arguments given in the favor of mathematics look attractive in the first instance but they are not free of problems. It is argued by many economists that mathematical models are recognized in providing a rational approach to solving many of the problems in decision making, allocation, and forecasting1. Mathematical models present theoretical work in their own language, which is a tool of communication, but we know that a language must be simple and easily understood to be appreciated, but as a language, mathematics is not simple and easy. In this paper, an attempt is made to discourage the excessive use of mathematics in economics, by describing its drawbacks in the economic theory. Attention is given to the scientific nature of the economics. In the beginning some definitions are given and comparison between different models are given, to develop an understanding in the subject. Mathematisation of Economics The major development of the second quarter of 20th century in the field of economics was the mathematization of economics. An economist of 19th century can not even understand the economic journals of present times. Starting from the microeconomics theory, macroeconomics, international trade, economic development, public finance and all the other branches of economics have been...

...Yeni Rojas Legal, Ethical and Social Values of Business Chapter 4 “Traditional Theories of Property and Profit” January 27, 2015 Abstract This paper examines chapter 4 Traditional Theories of Property and Profit. It starts off with the case study of New Protocol: How Drug’s Rebirth as Treatment for Cancer Fueled Price Rises, and the ethical challenge being faced by Celgne Corp. The company must choose between securing the financial wellbeing of their company or responding to the public’s need. We also examine the ethical positions of Milton Friedman and R. Edward Freeman in their respective essays found in Chapter 4 of the textbook as they are applied to the case study of " New Protocol: How Drug’s Rebirth as Treatment for Cancer Fueled Price Rises." Celgne Corp., in my opinion is a great example of a company that is facing the age-old question of who companies owe their loyalty to? The stakeholders who are investing in our company or the community we sell our products to and for whom the product is essentially developed for. While my belief is that in any business there is the need to make a profit and constantly grow not only the assets but also the stakeholder’s investment, one has to analyze up to what point it is fine to stop benefiting the company’s financial health and maintain the ethical responsibility to the public. It does not seem ethical to price gouge customers simply for the benefit of the stakeholders; especially when the cost to manufacture the...

...Jacob Kleintz FYWT Christa DiMarco Research Paper A Culture of Rejection Graphic designer David Carson reflected the grunge culture of the 1990’s through his design of the first issue of the music magazine, Raygun which was published November of 1992. Grunge itself, has its roots in the new music that was emerging as America entered the 90’s. Much of the music shows a disenchantment with society and a sense of entrapment. In 1992, music critic Simon Reynolds said about teenagers in the 90’s, “…there’s a feeling of burnout in the culture at large. Kids are depressed about the future.” By the early 1990's a majority of young adults found the pop music of the time had become too dull and boring. Due to this fact teens turned to a more alternative sound. They found this sound to be produced by college radio and small time record label companies. (Benner). By the start of the 90’s grunge was not only moving to new areas but also began making their own music. Grunge musicians rejected expensive, highly staged performances; most would not use pyrotechnics or other complicated lighting and visual effects during their shows. Grunge ironically arose from a complete rejection of culture (Berman). Carson's style of typography experimentation influenced the development of the deconstructed style of design and a whole new era of designers. The experiments by Carson and other Ray Gun designers were chaotic, abstract and distinctive, but sometimes illegible. The magazine's radical subject...
