Another movie based on the inhumane effects of our privatized health care system. I was not expecting the type of movie that it was, especially what John decides to do in order to save his son’s life. By now, I have seen two movies on the healthcare system that have truly amazed me and have left me with powerful messages about what we don’t see daily within our so-called expensive health care system. This movie reminded me of the struggles that those within poorer communities suffer from: lack of healthcare coverage. In comparison, to Patch Adams this movie had a much more dramatic effect to capture the battle between loved ones and saving lives. Furthermore, it captures every part of what actual society would go through if their loved ones were denied entry into a list for heart transplants. I think that this movie serves as another reminder of what we still need to improve in our health care. But see I feel that it’s not only our health care that needs fixing but those within it seem to lack of compassion for families of this sort, who cannot pay for their medical expenses. This movie portrays the most frustrating issue that I’ve seen up to this point in several health care movies and that is the inhumane and materialistic ways that doctors handle their medical attention. I think that this really gives me a new outlet on part of why a nationalized health care is not being considered by the AMA (American Medical Association); these doctors just want their money. These health care related movies continue to pile up which makes me realize how much opinions are flaring over the clear issues in this system, including mine. At first, I felt the compassion and frustration for John Quincy and then as the movie progressed I felt a deep annoyance that became anger for what our system is. This movie along with Patch Adams has influenced me to look for healthcare
