Okay, the first thing I have to say about Josh Lieb is why is he such a pessimist? He talks on this video like he was spited by the industry but I looked him up and he has had a VERY successful career with the Jimmy Fallon Show. I think his advice was a little helpful just to see the darker side of how the industry can affect people. I think that he is worn down and I don't see a reason why. He says, "If you can be a lawyer, please, go and be a lawyer." My question is WHO gives advice to people to not follow their passion? Life isn't easy and nothing comes with ease. You have to work and sometimes things don't work out or you aren't where you thought you'd be. He's sitting there, with I'm sure a lot of money telling us not to go there. Not…show more content… Television, in my opinion, will always have a place. Even if cable companies are slowly losing money to streaming services the art of storytelling will never die. I mean think about it, we have been telling stories from the beginning of time. Whether we are telling it on a screen in someone's living room or ancient hieroglyphics it has relevance to this day. He is sitting on his throne basically, because he isn't a nobody, telling people to step back, get a hobby, don't come to Hollywood. Yes, Hollywood is jaded. Hollywood is sexist. Hollywood is all about who you know, not what you can do 90% of the time. But think about this, the medical field was built by men. White men. Now, try to tell me just because that field was jaded that women and people of all ethnicities shouldn't have gone after their dreams. IT'S THE SAME CONCEPT. That job was hard, but it was their passion and now look at the career. We have doctors of all kind. Yes, some doctors are worse than others and still get paid the big money. But, what is the point of anything if you can't follow your…show more content… Hollywood isn't a fairytale. As Mark Duplass says, "The cavalry isn't coming." I think that to get where you want, you have to change your route. There are so many different roads to take to get to your goal. Life, it gets in the way. You might look at your life in ten years and not be where you thought you'd be, but that doesn't mean that you aren't where you are supposed to be. Nothing is a guarantee. To be honest when I was sitting watching him speak I got angry. Mostly, his words just seemed too negative to really hold any genuine advice in them. I am very interested in T.V and I think that he has good ideas but he phrases them in such a dark and cloudy view that it gets lost in translation. He has valid points, this is a hard business. People who are less talented than you will be ahead of you. That is true WITH ALL JOBS. IT IS NOT JUST THE TELEVISION INDUSTRY. I cannot stress that enough. There are disadvantages for all people in all walks of life. It is not limited to our industry. Men will be hired over women most of the time (even when applying for a law firm). White men will be hired over all other ethnicities 90% of the time. Again, this doesn't strictly apply to only the TV industry. Jobs are hard and a career is stressing and you don't always get what you want. You have to be fluid but persistent. You
