NFL Case Study- Kaitlyn Skripek Jovan Belcher grew up with little going for him, besides his amazing skill and love for football. He lived with his single mother growing up, and wanted to succeed in life and repay his mother for all the good she had done for him. He had directed his whole life towards football and finally in early 2008 he was drafted for the Kansas City Chiefs along with his best friend, Pierre Walters. Right off the get go Belcher made more money than him and his mom had every seen, $300,000. Walter’s reported that he often saw his friend, Belcher, get hurt whether it was his ankles, wrists, knees, or minor concussions, but no one ever thought anything of it, and most injuries weren’t reported so Belcher could be kept on the Field. On November 8, 2008, Belcher had his first documented head injury, but continued to play the next Sunday. According to the police Jovan was depressed, drunk, and had just come home from being out with a different woman, and then shot his wife 9 times.
