I'll try as hard as I can to draw a picture just as if you were really standing there. But please, forget that I am giving a lecture now, I'm not. We are just sitting together, imagining together what will happen on Resurrection Day (Judgment Day). My aim today is not to scare you. My aim is to tell you the facts about that day. How will it begin? "The Trumpet will just be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then a second one will be sounded, when, behold, you will be standing and looking on!" "The trumpet shall be sounded, when behold! From the sepulchers (men) will rush forth to their Lord!" Today we will only speak about one topic– the standing on resurrection day waiting for judgment. After the trumpet is blown, your body parts start to join together, and your bones start to merge once more. Your brain starts thinking, your eyes open and you start to have life back again. ...AO1: Values and Individual Rights Who were my Service Users? My work place was conducted in a nursery called Lilford Day Care centre. I knew about the placement because I used to attend the nursery when I was younger. This meant I was already familiar with my surroundings, and knew majority of the staff which it made it easier for me to get along with them, and feel comfortable around them. As being a part of the staff for 2 weeks I had various tasks that I had to complete. I had to think of creative and imaginative activities that I could involve the children with that would help them with their learning skills whilst having a fun time. So activities such as baking, going to parks and constructing puzzles helped to engage the children. As the children I worked with were aged 1-3 I couldn’t make the activities too challenging so that they could take part. I had to make sure that I fully engaged with the children, getting on the same level as them so that they saw me as a friend rather than towering over them and displaying threatening body language, I always made sure I remembered this when speaking to the children. In Groundhog Day the main character Phil is an arrogant, sarcastic weatherman absorbed in his own discomforts, without hope, and cut off from other people. He is forced to relive the same day, groundhogs day, over and over again. In “The Metamorphosis the main character is Gregor Samsa, a man who spends his time working to pay off a debt for his father. Gregor wakes up to find that he has turned into a beetle. Throughout these two works the main characters try to go back to living their life as before not realizing that this is their second chance at life to make things right. Phil manages to do so only by breaking through and becoming a person of intimacy, creativity and compassion which sets him free from his exile of living in the same day over and over again. As for Gregor, going from someone everyone depends on to something no one wants to care for, he doesn’t get a chance to have everything go back to normal. He dies and his family, for once, is relieved. Groundhog Day lets us experience what it would be like to make a breakthrough like this in our own lives.
