After reading The Other by Judith Ortiz the author opens up about the insecurity they she has about her. In line 10 to 11 the author says the following “ She shakes out art black mane as I run a comb through my close- cropped cap”. In these lines the author talks about her insecurities that she have with her hair speaking as if she wishes that she had long beautiful hair like a lion. After reading the poem The Other it made me think about to the insecurities that I had with myself some time ago after I had surgery and started to gaining weight. I used to look my self in the mirror and only see the person i used to be before I had surgery. I used to hate going out into public because I thought people only seen all the weight that I have gained
