In The View From Saturday, by E.L Konigsburg, we see the story from the view of Julian Singh. Julian is an enthusiastic boy in sixth grade on spaceship earth. In this chapter Julian shows that he is reflective, caring and principled. These are the traits of Julian. One morning Julian walks off the bus and was followed by Ethan. “Hamilton Knapp came barreling towards us” (Koningsburg 72). After an intense tug of war Julian claims his bag, but not in time to save his bag from Hamilton who vandalizes it and wrote I am a ass on the bag. The next day Julian still uses his book bag that now says, “I am a passenger on spaceship earth” (73) which means to me whatever life gives you, you take it. Julian transforms a negative to a funny real-life scenario. This just shows how reflective Julian is. Julian reflects on how to change the rude remark and came up with a better quote. Julian finds out Michael Froelich’s dog Arnold is going to play the first night instead of Nadia’s dog Ginger who was originally the star in the play. Before the play Julian is riding the bus to school and rests his head on the window. He hears that Hamilton is going to drug Nadia's treats and make her dog Ginger fall asleep. When she wakes up she going to be feeble and too impotent to perform. “It was clear that Hamilton meant to harm Ginger” (108). The bad thing is Hamilton does not know that Michael's dog Arnold is the star not Ginger. Julian does the principled decision and switches the drugged doggy biscuit with Nadia's healthy biscuit. This is evidence that Julian is caring to everyone this includes animals. Julian is also caring when he is on the bus. When Julian is on the bus he ignores the mean impressions of him and just walks on the seat next to Ethan. This sounds like a small deal but it is hard to do when you must deal with this every day. This just shows how caring Julian
