Julie Greenwald

Born as an New York native, Julie Greenwald began her music career in 1992 at Def Jam Records as an executive assistant, after she graduated from Tulane University in 1992 with a double major in Political Science and English.

After just three months on the job, Greenwald became Def Jam Record's Promotion Coordinator, where she established the urban culture of hip-hop into the label by working with the likes of LL Cool J and Public Enemy. She held the that position for two years until the company severed its ties with Sony, whereupon she became Head of Marketing and helped shape the label into an urban hip-hop powerhouse by landing dozens of platinum and gold records throughout the ’90s, developing campaigns for music groups
