How real are personality test? Do they really identify the true aspects of a person? Will I find accuracy in the test? These were just a few of the questions that I pondered at the onset of the assessment. In all honesty, I can admit that prior to taking the Jung Typology test, I did not think there was a value to taking personality test. However, contrary to my belief, the results of the test were an eye opener. Truthfully, I felt somewhat convicted in the end only because my initial thoughts alienated me from understanding that this was an opportunity to possibly learn a little more about myself than I already may know. “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gen’-tiles walk, in the vanity of …show more content…
In most cases, I immediately revert to how I can make something happen. This exact behavior was described by The Four Preferences Assessment as coming up with a new way of doing things, seeing the big picture, and thinking about future implications of decision made now” (Personality Page). In my role as District Manager dealing with risk, it is my prime responsibility to be open minded and looks at “the big.” This behavior is not only a part of my practice but a task that I charge and coach my managers to do as well. Managing risk requires me to think about all possible implication and complications that could arise to avoid and minimize the risk as much as possible. A perfect caption that would correlate with this can be found in Talk Type at Work. “Another strength of ENJT is their ability to balance a vision of the future with the ability to take risks” (Personality Page). A more relatable example of this would be a time I recall having a coaching conversation with a manager to help him see the risk of continuing a customer relationship for business. When faced with the situation of whether or not to continue doing business with the customer, my manager had a green light flashing only to suggest that business continued with the …show more content…
Overall, this was very interesting for me. Prior to taking these assessments, I have always wondered what merit they held. But after reading some the results I obtained, I can really see the connection to myself and my leadership style in the workplace and beyond. Understanding the different levels of the personality test is a critical component. Good
Step Two
These tests have taught me how to open up and be more flexible. In addition to being flexible, resolving conflict in a different manor can help salvage the overall relationship. In regards to the organization, allowing my leadership team to be more vocal in meetings and hearing their opinions is paramount. Not only hearing their voices but making changes that they may have suggested. This information truly shed more light on my personal and professional walk of life.
The reading from Type Talk At Work helped me to better understand what type of leader I am. My four letters were ENTJ, which is also known as Life’s Natural Leader. In truth, this part of the assessment was probably by far the most exciting part to me. When I was a kid my parents would say I always tried to control many situation things. I will contrast and attempt to compare both examinations, showing why I believe the Keiser test is a more accurate description of my personality and character. I took both tests within one day of each other, to avoid an influence from one test on the other. After completion of the Keirsey test, I found the results to be surprisingly accurate, especially its description of the way my type makes decisions and view important choices. As for the Jung Typology test, I found it to be only accurate in generalities; the same way a daily horoscope found in the back of a newspaper would be.
