The symptoms of CTE are insidious. They first start out as the disorientation is attention and confusion, then it affects concentration and memory. Some people even complain of headaches and dizziness.
As the disease progresses there are additional symptoms such as lack of insight, poor judgment and dementia. Severe cases affect the muscular system causing problems with walking, impeded speech and even deafness.
Over time cases of CTE have expanded from boxers to athletes from many different contact sports including football, rugby, wrestling and hockey.
