The Centre’s Junior Toddler room does not provide the children with books that include diverse people/cultures or people with disabilities. Since children learn through play, I think it’s important for them to read/see books that include people with diverse cultures and disabilities. This way the children will know it is something common and not strange and they will become accepting towards the diverse people. It is important for children to realize not everyone looks that same, we are all unique in our own ways. Having the children see diverse people/cultures and people with disabilities in books will help them value and respect diverse people in the real world.
The staff members in the Junior Toddler room do not document physical play learning nor do the implement specific activities for the children to do. Each week in the program plan, there are activities listed for indoor and outdoor physical play, however, when the time come to implement these activities, the staff members just let the children freely explore. I believe even if the bedsheets cover the cots, the bedsheets are thin and the children’s drool do go through. Also the closet the cots are placed in have loads of storage shelves above them. In this closet, the staff hang their jackets, bags and indoor/outdoor shoes. There’s also extra materials such as art supplies, extra toys, and extra bedsheets stored in the closet with the cots. I find this is just a way to transform bacteria from one material to
