Today, August 22, 2016, was the first day of my junior year of high school. Everyone I have known have repeatably said that junior year is the most stressful year of your life. I’m very anxious for what this year beholds for me, how I’m going to handle it, and how this year is going to affect the rest of my life. I, Payton Luster, am petrified.
Firstly, this year I’m going to be involved with many things such as cross country, yearbook, NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owner’s), NHS (hopefully), and student council. Those extracurriculars alone can be a lot to handle but I’m also going to manage to juggle my part-time job (currently at Which Wich but that’s changing soon) and volunteering at the Animal Defense Center. I have to do well or else my college applications will not stand-out with the thousands of other college applicants. I want my application to look a certain way and present myself in the best way possible. In order to do that, I must endure the mess that is junior year. Again, being a Capricorn enables me to have the “fighting” spirit and pushes me to have very high goals for myself. I want to attend an Ivy League school even though the application process is very competitive and be a screenwriter in a male-dominated career industry. These goals alone seem near impossible to complete but I feel like I can possibly do it. In order to reach those goals of mine I have to build my self-confidence a little bit and challenge myself to a point where I absolutely want to quit. That’s a little bit why I wanted to take on AP English. English has always been a little bit easy for me since I have always enjoyed reading and writing. However, recently, it has really been challenging to do well in English. I don’t know when or where it happened, but I started to slack in my skills in English. Pre-Ap English left this void that I desperately wanted to fill. I’m hoping AP English will help me get back to where I was and assist me on fulfilling my goals. After all, this is no other option since failing is out of the

Junior Year Research Paper

...Since the end of my sophomore year, I have been ready to go to college. Of course, that feeling of being ready grew much stronger throughout the end of my high school career. Junior year was definitely the year where I started preparing for the process of being able to apply to college. Academically, junior year was one of my best years in which I was under so much stress due to tests, SAT, speech, and research papers. I have always been organized with my school work and the way I handle my time. Now that I am in senior year, with about 47 days left of school days, I am more than ready to make a new life for myself, and call New Orleans my new home. I have been told by every single person I know that has gone to college, that it is a completely new life from that of the one we, high school students, are used to. For starters, one is completely independent in every possible way during this journey. Cleaning my room, washing my clothes, cooking dinner, and even getting my homework done in time, will all be up to me. I will not have my parents over my shoulder telling me to do this or that. Personally for me is a complete relief. Being almost nineteen years old, I know the difference between being responsible and inresponsable. I am fully prepared for pulling all nighters, going grocery shopping, washing my clothes, and getting up every...

It is the year to become the person you want to be. Junior year is my year. This year I want to show who I am and how I have grown. How I have grown to be someone I love and I could not have done it without someone who I thought I would never forgive. I could not have become the person I am today without my father. John Christopher Brissenden has shaped who I am without being here. I have taken every aspect of my life and shaped it based on his life decisions and choices. A father is someone who creates you. Junior Year Research Paper

...“Are you guys ready for junior year?”, was the question our teachers asked us before ending our sophomore year. A question in which some of us may have said, “Yes, I am” and others, “ No, not yet”. I was one of the ones that said yes. Perhaps it was the idea that I was entering my third year of high school and that one year later I would be graduating, but I was wrong. Personally, I would not know how I felt the first day of school; probably because of the fact that I did not show up the first week of school. I know, I know I started my junior not so well. The first day I stepped in Godinez High School as a junior, the second week of school had begun. For me, it was not difficult fitting in the first month of school, socially;I had friends...

Junior Year Research Paper

...My junior year wasn’t one of my best years, but it wasn’t the worst either. I transferred here from Collinwood High School. My first day of junior year wasn’t so good, I had so much trouble finding my classes but as the week went by getting to class was easier. For me last year was challenging I had two classes I had to take over from my sophomore year. Finding people I could talk to wasn’t so easy either, this being my second here at Euclid I still have like no friends; maybe like two or three people I talk to. One thing I struggled with last year was getting to school on time I was late everyday. Some of my successes were passing my math OGT after taking it four times and my challenges was trying to pass my science OGT and taking classes over. The Science OGT is the most challenging test for me. I only have two more times I can take it in order to graduate. I would describe my junior as hard, coming late to school put me so behind in first period I was never caught up. I still manage to do all my work and pass the class with a B all four quarters....

...I was in your British Literature class first period my junior year (2011-2012). In this class, I showed my responsibility my completing all my homework, always coming to class on time, completing make up work in a timely manner, and asking for help whenever it was needed. In your class, I was always engaged and learned quickly about different ideas that you covered as the year went along. I was always a willing participant and tried my best to contribute to class discussions by raising my hand respectfully. In your class, I am very proud of my academic accomplishments that I have achieved. Your class has enhanced my understanding of different aspects of literature by assigning several discussions and projects. The class started out in fall 2011with the short research paper on the British literary history from the 1600’s to modern era. I was very proud of the research paper, since I had learned many new things during this project about authors and their books. In addition, I enjoyed discussing classics such as Dorian Gray in my BLBC groups. My favorite one, however, was The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. The book’s plot was rich with action and suspense, which inspired me to read it even more. Analyzing characters in the The Pillars of the Earth with the group was extremely helpful to my comprehension of the book. Furthermore, throughout the year, we had to present on several ideas and themes, which included two different types of sonnets, stories and plays. Presenting helped...

However, before I start exploring my horizons, which is going to be filled with new opportunities and memories to be made, it’s best to reflect on my experience in AP Language and Composition with Mrs.Miles throughout junior year. These past 8 months were filled with enlightening experiences. From the discussions and articles of the week to the countless essays we had to write. I believe that Mrs.Miles really focused on our writing skills, which I am awfully grateful that she did. Mrs.Miles has assisted in my growth in writing; as my grammar has improved, including the use of commas, colons, and semicolons. In fact, I am now knowledgeable of the fact...

Argumentative Essay About Junior Year

...The saying that most sophomores and freshman will hear from faculty and other students alike is that junior year is the worst year of high school. With having to give around eight speeches for English class to studying the great nation history through the 241 years of its existence. This can be a great deal for some to handle while others just fly right through it. Being four weeks into the school year, each teacher has set up specific guidelines that seem to be pretty self-explanatory. However, teachers and faculty alike have even stated that the classes are not easy and should not be taken for the faint of heart. In the math department, Algebra II seems to be what most of the students that do not take the advanced...

The Meaning of Meanness

...Tziporah Nockenofsky, 337655518 The Meaning of Meanness: Popularity, Competition, and Conflict among Junior High School Girls Don E. Merten In this qualitative research paper, Merten examines the sociocultural construct of meanness, more specifically how competition for popularity influenced a group of girls in junior high to be blatantly mean to one another. The goal is to understand why meanness was considered acceptable and didn’t threaten the girls’ popularity and perhaps more importantly, to understand the mixture of social and cultural factors that exist behind this cluster of behaviors. Merten approaches the issue of meanness not because of a deficiency in existing field research but in order to focus on the relationship between competition for popularity and meanness. The clique he researched had become so embroiled in their mean spirited behaviors, they acquired a reputation of being the meanest girls in the school. Merten concentrates on analyzing the complicated factors that led to such a social reality. In earlier research of competition and its effects on human relationships, researchers worked from the suspicion that women were by nature less competitive than men. Females were found to prefer to use verbal strategies to diffuse personal conflict rather than confront any open competition. Eventually it...
