Numerous children are getting hooked right off the bat on high-fat, high caloric garbage snacks. According to Junk Food Junkies, frequently kids discover it is easier to get a fast food nibble than a bite of a nutritional snack (Mooney 2011). Television, the internet, and movies bombard them with advertisements for the latest candy, soda, or chips. Vending machines and à la carte lunch options at school are filled with sugar and fat. Even very young children are regularly eating junk food. As per a Gerber Products study, parents permit ten percent of toddlers to eat candy each and every day. In addition, 21 percent of toddlers eat french fries daily, while 23 percent wash them down with sweetened beverages (Mooney 2011). “It’s a minefield out there for kids. Schools have a big part to play, but kids often are not offered the best choices at school or in the community. It’s up to parents to lead by example,” says Alexandra Salazar, a pediatric nutritionist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in New York City (Mooney 2011). As documented earlier, non-programming content such as advertising and program promotions does vary, sometimes dramatically, across networks. Children 2-7 watch an average of two hours and three minutes per day, while 8-12 year-olds watch for 3.25 hours per day, and 13-17 year-olds for an average of 2.48 hours per day. ...In many school systems across the United States, there are many different opinions on whether or not junk food should be banned. Some people favor the thought of junk food in school systems and feel as though kids should be able to eat what they want. Others believe that schools should provide students with healthier snacks and meals to eat. The true question is, how much is too much? There are certain school systems taking over meal plans and completely banning the food selection for kids to only health choices. Kids should be able to make choices for themselves and eat the food they want too eat. Having junk food in school systems has been known to bring up the percent of obesity in kids, but having junk food will give students freedom of choice, will help the vending contract revenue, and it will save money and complications in creating a new lunch program. Schools that allow students to eat what they want give’s the students dining options and also freedom of choice. Many school systems in America are strict enough already; they do not need to be even stricter and be told what to eat and what not to eat. When students can pick out their own food, it gives the student the feeling of personal responsibility. Heroin abusers do not often know the actual strength of the drug, or what its contents are and are at risk of overdose or death. It is estimated that 9.2 million people in the world use heroin and first time users have risen from 85000 people in 1970 to 162000 in 2001. HIV and other diseases can be transmitted from abuser to abuser from sharing of needles or other types of injection equipment; about three to four percent of heroin addicts die each year from HIV and AIDS. Heroin, or as known on the streets as “smack”, “H”, “junk” and many others is usually injected, sniffed, snorted or smoked. Intravenous injection provides a heroin abuser with the greatest intensity and most rapid high, producing a drowsy state of relaxation and contentment, taking approximately fifteen to thirty seconds to get that intense high. Injection into the muscle or skin takes about three to five minutes for an abuser to get a high. When heroin is sniffed or smoked, the effects are usually felt within ten to fifteen minutes. Injection is the most used method of heroin users; however researchers have seen a shift in patterns from injection to sniffing or smoking.
