Ate Charo: Magandang gabi mga kapamilya, ito po si ate charo at ito ang Maging Malala Kaya. May isang kwento na nasagap natin sa isla ng Carribean na tungkol sa isang bata na nagtataon ng pito. Ate Charo:: Sa isang isla may naninirahang mag-asawa.
Amelia: Ala singko nap ala. Dapat bilisan ko baka mapagalitan ako. Mag-iigib pa ako, maghahain ng almusal.

Methodology - "“Just Give Me a Number!” Practical Values for the Social Discount Rate"

...ECON 172 REPORT METHODOLOGY “What weights should society apply to cost and benefits occurring in future time periods relative to the present period?” INTRAGENERATIONAL DISCOUNTING * Consumption rate of interest cum shadow price of capital method (CRI-SPC Method) * The level of public investment should be based on individual preference for present consumption vs. future consumption * The marginal rate of time preference * Investment is simply a means of using resources that are potentially available for consumption now in order to increase consumption later * Individuals typically have a positive rate of time preference * They demand compensation when forgoing present for future consumption * SDR = rate of time preference * If the future increase in net benefits > present costs (via consumption rate of interest, CRI) = project passes a potential compensation test * Possible for the winners to compensate the losers * Still have sufficient gains to allow for pareto efficiency * Ex. Net return available to individual savers is 2% per year Project cost (to taxpayers) = $1M this year Net benefit = $3.2M in 50 years * forgoing current consumption of $1M and lending at 2%, return = $2.72M in 50 yrs * therefore, the $3.2M benefit will be preferred * If we ignore intragenerational redistributions, we can suggest that this project would improve social welfare * If individuals seek to maximize their own...

...what the message of Hamlet was. Even with a minor play, everyone is going to come away with something different depending on if they've just left their lovers or if they've just had a child or if they've just been fired.” Beth Henley I saw this quote and had to include it in my paper. It sums up my major arguments, also reveals a dilemma I’m struggling with. This is because I because agree with the quote and I don’t agree with it. The part I agree with is that everyone can come away with something different from a play, and yes, this will largely depend on what your state of mind was when you saw it. Just like Beth Henley is alluding to, if you’ve got something stealing your brain’s attention, your mind is going form associations relative to its current state, and keep closely to the same path you started down before ever stepping foot in the theatre. The mind is awesome at making connections, and sometimes it’s a little too good. This can make you sound like an idiot if you occasionally go so far as to over-think an issue. Not me, just someone I know. The part I don’t agree with in Henley’s quote is where she says there is no main message in a play. Although you can have multiple interpretations of them, I believe there is one main, overruling theme to each, and if not, well then that would tell me the author has failed miserably. Richard Levin, in the JSTOR article, My Theme Can Lick Your Theme, said, “A few years ago in an article...

Veggie Bet

...anybody would just want to eat just green food. I always said no matter what I wouldn’t just eat greens over any other food. Around the end of 10th grade, my friend Jason didn’t like how much fast food I ate because he was a vegetarian. Since he was a vegetarian, I would always give him a hard time about it. I called him a punk because of the simple fact that he was vegetarian. So one day he got enough of it and made a bet with me. The bet was that I couldn’t go on a veggie diet for a whole week. Because I have so much pride, I accepted the bet. If I lost the bet, I had pay him 100 dollars and vice versa. So it was a lot on the line. I was telling myself that I wasn’t going to lose the bet for nothing. I couldn’t afford to lose the bet so it wasn’t an option. For a second, I started thinking like maybe that wasn’t the smartest bet to take but my pride wouldn’t let me turn down the bet. Initially, I didn’t think it would be easy but I thought I could just breeze right through it. I soon came to realize that wasn’t the case. The first day of the bet started off well. I started the day off with a salad before I went to school. By the time I got to school, I was hungry all over again. I thought the salad was going to keep me full until lunchtime. But I was terribly wrong. It felt like I had not ate at all. I knew after that point that this was going to be a long week. All throughout the school day everybody seemed to either have snacks or fast food. It started to eat me alive knowing...

Global Warming

...someone finally asked me my thoughts about global warming! Personally, especially this time of year I think the heat could be turned up a little bit more! I have a hard time believing it is the "most urgent possible disaster that could hit us" any time soon and that we need to give our full attention to it. I watched all about it on History channel this last weekend and even the clips and photo's that they show do not convince me that it is the #1 concern that society and the world should have. I personally believe that it is just "big business." And those who are capitalizing on it...know it! Now, I don't mind recycling and simple stuff like that, but I won't give up my candy apple red convertible GT and drive an ugly car loaded with batteries that looks like my sons shoes going down the highway! The Best Advice I Ever Gotten

...It gave me hope that when bad things happened to me or things don't turn out the way I want them because of my mom's advice I understood it was is for a reason. I followed it also because through out my life it was easy to find situations where I could get upset. Since I was a little girl I heard my mom say "everything happens for Good" I heard her say it both for the good and the bad things that happened. hearing her telling me this when she saw me upset made me put it in my mind and apply it in my everyday life. Finding myself in small situations being mad like missing the bus to get to school or being rejected by a friend, I remember always getting mad at myself , people or even God. The time I applied for a job and after waiting two weeks for interview I was mad because I didn't the new job. This days thanks to God I have been changed because my mom' advice was so true and applicable. Now rather than just worrying myself why things always don't work out as I expected I learned not to give in or give up easily in every situations I found myself in but always I try to see beyond what is in front of me or try to focus on the positive sides of situations as they saying goes " you can either think the cup is half full or half empty". The best counsel that I got from my mother when I connected it with what I read on the bible where it says in new testament "Give thanks in all circumstances" . I really believed that all things happens for a reason and that gave me hope. I...

Research Paper On Breaking Social Norms

...do? Do you give them a kiss on the cheek, high five, or do you give them a hug? In our society, when we meet a complete stranger we tend to either just say “ hello”, exchange names, and a quick handshake. In my social norms project, I will be breaking the norm that our society has that when we meet a complete stranger we tend to just say “hello” and give them and a quick handshake. In this experiment I will intend to break this social norms by wearing a sign that reads “free hugs.” I will walk around a shopping center say “hello” to different individuals after this instead of giving them handshake like most people would do, I will point at my sign and see if they give me a hug instead. I have an accomplice joining me that will take notes on all the reactions that we both notice. Mostly focusing on: how people react both positive and negative, the similarities and differences on the reactions of the individuals....

What Keeps You Going?

...Jessica Mae B. Fernandez BSM21 What keeps me going? Sometimes, life can be tough. There are days that I get tired, hopeless, or that I am on the verge of giving up, but I tend not to. This is because I am surrounded with people and things that inspire me to get going. Through them, I am able to move forward. Let’s put first things first. Of course, my greatest motivating factor would be my family. They are always there to encourage and support me in my decisions. As an only child, I am the only one who will take good care of my parents when they grow older, that’s why I must be successful so that I can provide them what they need. And at the same time, I don’t want to disappoint them. So when the time comes that I have achieved my goals, I would gladly share my success with them, because success-- when you don’t have someone to share it with-- is totally worthless. Aside from my family, another thing that motivates me to keep going is my goals. It is just fascinating to know that there are still better things ahead of us, and some of our best days haven’t happened yet. Great things are bound to happen if we just choose to go on and work harder. Maybe, there would be ups and downs, but that’s a part of life. If we give up just because of a little rain, how can we enjoy the rainbow that appears after that? This college, I just made a bucketlist for all the things I want to accomplish just like places to visit, books to read, bands to watch, extreme activities to experience--...
