...going to start my essay with the slogan of our university which is “educating tomorrow’s leaders” that is the purpose of our school and should also be the purpose of the all universities here in Albania. By that I do not think that they mean the leaders in their future professions also they should educate the leaders of schooling who are going to educate next generations. Here in Albania we see that we have a large number of students that finish high school who want to start university. If we see it from the point of view that Albanians want to learn a lot this is a good thing but I do not think so, people here start universities because they want to get better jobs and to get those jobs people here just want to get that diploma of bachelor. They do not care how they get it they just want it for the specific job and for good salary but this is not how it works. Also here we see that in our education system we face a lot of public and private universities which is a good thing but they should improve a lot the way they disseminate knowledge. Because from all of these universities we can count only two or three which are really universities and have the characteristics that a university should have. I have personally experienced two types of education system the American one and our system here in Albania. I went for junior year in San Diego in Mission Hills High School and when I firstly started school I faced the differences of the way of teaching and also the way of learning...

...the most unexpected and surreal experiences. I am only twenty three years old but being from the Big Apple, New York and being raised by single parent, nothing in my life has ever been a walk in the park. I am considered a minority because I am Puerto Rican and African American and it has always been tough for me living in such an urban area. Not having the best financial status is what made thing even harder. My mother had to struggle to make ends meet for me, but we made it and are still making it. I have always seen my neighbors, friends, and family also experience the same hardships as me. Many of the people I know had to fight to make it America, and I mean that figuratively and literally. Some of the people I know weren’t even born here, and became citizens. I even know a few Aliens (immigrants who are living illegally in a country). Just learning to speak, read, and write a new language is a hurdle many who come here can never get over, so imagine having to find somewhere to live or a job to make money to survive. My melting pot country has shown me and taught me many things. I am American, we are as tough as they come. I have always said that being born here is what makes you a true American, and still believe that but, I have also come to see that immigrants venture here from other countries are the strength that America is known for as well. When you are born here, there is way about you. It is recognizable to outsiders because they see a free demeanor in the way that...

Scene 1: *doorbell rings* Mrs. M: (Gets up from seat) Visitors, always visitors, nothing but visitors all day long. I'm beginning to feel like a society matron. (opens door) Mrs. M: Tony! I thought you were on the province. Tony: Is that you Aling Atang? Mrs. M: of course it's me, foolish boy. Why? Tony: You don't look like Aling Atang.Mrs. M: I had a haircut. Think it's horrible? Tony: Oh, no, no. You look just wonderful. Aling Atang for a moment, I thought you were Kikay. Mrs. M: Oh, you are so palikero as ever, Tony. But come in. Here, sit down. ...called Anytown. With approximately 492, people within a half a mile space Anytown is just a small part of the nineteen miles of Hancock County. Within our little town, we are lucky enough to have many city amenities like a family owned market with full service butchers, a salon, a couple restaurants, a bar and a gas station. Along with an outstanding park with a hill for sledding down in the winter, a pool for swimming during the summer and ball fields for baseball/softball season. However, our small town is very short on racial diversity. Our town has 492 people in our town and our racial make-up is 98.2% white and 1.6% African American and 2.6% Hispanic. (http://factfinder2.census.gov/) Of the 183 homes in our town, 73.2% are homes with homeowner living in them and 26.8% are occupied rental units bringing transits into our area on a regular basis-leaving door open for expansion of diversifying the opportunities in our community. Diversity is short in our little town as you can see by the numbers. I believe this is true because the majority of citizens from our town have lived here for generations upon generations. I can attest to this particular statement because my significant other was born and raised around here and his parents were also born and raised around here. His parents lived in the same house 56 years before they were moved to a nursing home. Most people out here believe they are as country as can be because they have several guns, listen to country...

...friend of mine moved into one of the apartments just outside of campus. I was helping her move a few of her things in when Khaetthaleeya came out to help us. This is where I met Khaetthaleeya, a young college student originally from Nakhonphanom, Thailand. She is the loveliest girl ever, but can be very shy so when I asked her if I could talk to her about her culture, she was kind of hesitant, but then agreed. On November 1, 2015 I interview Khaetthaleeya at her apartments by Dixie State University. She was born in Nakhonphanom, Thailand (which is Southeast of Asia near Vietnam). She moved here to American about 10 years ago with her parents and her younger sister, Waranya. They moved to Beaver, Utah where her mother and father both work at a pig farm. She attended and graduated from Beaver High School in 2012. As she transitioned into college life, she found herself here at Dixie College where she is studying her generals and soon to get her associates degree. She hopes to become a dental hygienist and make...

...building in which I reside. I am married now 3 years, have no children – just a fur face Manchester terrier named Louiee. My previous educational background consist of one semester at Daytona State College in 2001, as a Business Major. I have found that sometimes in live – one’s world can change in an instant and the course of the live that you had planned – suddenly changes. And looking back I believe this is what happened to me, as after one semester I chose to drop out and become involved in the local Daytona Area Music and Club scene. The results: A failed musician and a bloody nasty drinking habit. In 2004 I entered Savannah’s Hospital and completed the 28 day program. Since then I have 8 years without a drink. Woot! I love to share my experience, strength and hope with the newcomers, as I have stayed very active in the A.A. program, and most recently I have begun to teach the local Step Study Meetings for the “Celebrate Recovery” group here in town. “Celebrate Recovery” would be considered the Christian based A.A. program, with literature from author Rick Warren, (writer of “The Purpose Driven Life”) What I’ve found is a wonderful life beyond my dreams – and most days it is a joy to be alive! And when it’s not – every day is another chance to get it right. As the Economy here in Florida continues fail, and especially with the future closing of the NASA Space Center here in Titusville, Florida, I have decided that the time is perfect for me to...

...the United States. The weather here is perfect, during summer it’s really hot and it’s perfect weather for going to the beach. Spring is also really warm, although not as much. Spring and winter are my favorites because it’s neither too cold nor hot. There is warm sand along the shore of the ocean. My family moved to Los Angeles because we saw a better future, opportunities, and weather for ourselves. We were hoping to simply have a better lifestyle and be united. We’re somewhat in the middle of finding what we were looking for, but it is definitely improved since we moved here. Our journey towards here was really long. In 2000s my father moved to the U.S. from Armenia, where we all lived at the time. After that my brother, mother, and I moved to Russia where my grandparents used to live. Five years later my mom left to the United States. It took her a few times to get there because she had some difficulties with her documents. Unfortunately we had to stay in Russia because we also had the same issues as my mom. After my parents united together in Los Angeles, a year later my dad got deported back to Armenia because of immigration problems. For two years my mom lived alone in the States, while my brother and I lived with our grandparent and my dad. Finally, after about ten years of separations we all gathered together, here in Los Angeles. Our family brought all traditions that we had in our country. For example; we still celebrate New Year, just like we did anywhere we were...

March 23rd 2287 is the day the world changed and became this non existing place I’m at now. Sitting in my living room and remembering looking out the window seeing what I feel is a very dark cloud just spinning faster and faster. I think to myself this looks like a tornado but there was something different, it didn’t draw down to the ground like a tornado does. This cloud I thought, seemed to get bigger and darker and I just couldn’t stop looking at it. What is this phenomenon? ...Out There! 1. “I’m gonna sell you on New York!” “Start spreading the news: I’m leaving today; I want to be a part of it: New York, New York!” – Frank Sinatra, “New York, New York” I don’t remember when I first heard this song, but it finally stuck with me when I heard it in Friends With Benefits, you know the scene where Jamie takes Dylan to Times Square to be a part of a flash mob while she’s trying to sell New York to him so he’d accept a job at GQ. Well, if you didn’t know that, then now you do. Aside from being one of my favourite movies ever, Friends With Benefits just completely amplified my love for New York by infinity times. Now just to clear things up before I continue, we’re friends right? I don’t want this essay to sound like a stranger shoving an annoying travel infomercial about New York down your throat. I want you to love New York as much as I do, or at least not feel forced to. It could be like we’re just having a conversation, just like Jamie says to Dylan back at her apartment after they watch that shitty romantic film: “Yeah. Two girls over drinks at Bennigan’s. Go.” 2. “It’s New York! I’ve seen Seinfeld.” “Not the bullshit tourist version!” I always knew I belonged in New York; I guess I just didn’t realize it when I was a kid.
