Like all sidekicks, I’m just plain good company. I don’t mind entertaining myself by playing with toys such as balls, strings, fuzzy mice, and laser lights. Though a human companion at the other end of the couch and nice scratch behind the ears always make my day. I have been an outdoor cat most of if not all of my life, so interacting with people is something that I’m still getting used to. So as you can imagine from time to time I like my solitude too. Though as we continue to interact and get used to one another, I think that we’ll make a pretty good team. Like I’ve mentioned before, I was an outdoor cat, but I managed to master the litter box, you won’t have to worry about that. I’m sure whether I have lived with other animals before,

Bowl Cut

...popular, so a bowl cut was the new style for hair. People began buying chicken bowls and getting the bowl cut hair style. The thing that encouraged people to buy the South West Chicken Bowl was Propaganda. Companies buy commercials to be shown on televisions all over the world; therefore, the company has a way of getting into your mind. Pablo’s Chicken commercial was such a hit it had people coming and going for its South West Chicken Bowl. This commercial used three propaganda techniques such as plain folks, band wagon and glittering generalities to get people to buy their famous South West Chicken Bowl. Plain folks is probably one of the most common techniques of propaganda used. People like to feel that they can do things, and when commercials have ordinary people using or eating their product you feel more liking to do it too. Knowing that there are regular people just like them that are buying this South West Chicken Bowl would make more people comfortable in trying the new food. They didn’t just promote the chicken in this commercial but a bowl cut for the hairs. Loving the South West Chicken Bowl so much made people want to cut their hair just like it. In this commercial it had office workers with bowl cut hair styles promoting the South West Chicken Bowls. That’s just how powerful propaganda can be. It’s amazing how people don’t see that they are being brained washed by all these commercials and the techniques used. Another propaganda that was used to persuade people...

Author further recommends that not only contract should addressed the issues instead it should also best serve the purpose also. AVOIDING ORTHODOX WRITNG RITUALS Just (2008) criticizes the use of Doublets and Triplets in legal English for making document difficult to read and longer. Smoking

...should be tightly regulated and have their own set of rules. Guns, alcohol, junk food and motorcycles can all be used in safe, useful and enjoyable manners. Cigarettes on the other hand can’t be used in a harmless manner. Even in moderation they are doing the smoker and those around them immense harm to their health. Since the first of December 2012, cigarette and tobacco packaging has been plain in Australia. After having spent time understanding brand and their power over people I can only applaud the federal government for their actions. They have systematically pulled all of the marketing levers out from under the tobacco companies’ feet. Building a brand is usually very difficult- unless you have a highly addictive product, in which case it’s very easy. All you need is three things: 1. Ensure people try your product. 2. Pair it with aspirational imagery. 3. Ensure it’s easily available The highly addictive nature of cigarettes will look after the rest. However the Australian government has slowly and successfully prevented tobacco companies from doing just those three things. To prevent the ‘easily available’ aspect of the marketing plan, cigarettes have been put behind cabinets and need to be asked for by name. There are tighter age restrictions for purchases. Importantly taxes have made them very expensive and these all contribute to them becoming less available hence less desirable. Banning advertisement in the 1980’s and 1990’s was the...

Donald Worster's The Dust Bowl

...Published in 1979, The Dust Bowl: The Southern Plains in the 1930s, was written by Donald Worster. It was written with the intent of persuading the general public that the 1930’s Dust Bowl was galvanized due to the idea of capitalism. This writing is predominantly ineffective as it provides bias information, is a secondary source, and gives inconceivable solutions to these evident environmental problems. The Dirty Thirties, or more commonly known as the Dust Bowl, was a phenomenon during the 1930s. It was the case of many detrimental dust storms that took over the Great Plains and caused much havoc. These dust storms are generally thought of as a part of nature that was caused by high winds and dry soil. Contrary to this popular belief, Donald...

Nike: Just Do It

...Hovhannes Zoubrigian 29 November 2013 Applying Portable Concept Nike Emotional Advertisement “Just Do It” Advertisement nowadays is the key to success in every major company, and companies are wasting so much energy and effort to make good advertisements. As we started to talk about advertisement in class recently, I went online and did some research on how companies make their advertisements, what concepts they follow that makes us buy the product that they are selling, so I came across some interesting articles and commercials on YouTube and what really got my attention was Nike’s advertisement strategy. What I noticed is that Nike follows what called “Emotional Advertising” strategy, in order to emphasis the concept I am going to explain with something that is familiar to all of us, “Disney cartoons” that all of us as kids grow up watching them. These stories use the archetype emotions to tap human universal emotions, taking The Little Mermaid as an example, it uses the classic plot of overcoming the monster, the “evil” octopus woman that always tries to steal Ariel’s voice by sabotaging her and the Ariel the “hero” is this case, always overcome her in different ways. Or in The Hercules, when Hercules tries to prove himself as a “hero” he always need some kind of “catastrophe” to overcome it in order to be the “hero”. It is always “villain” against the “hero” and Nike uses the same exact emotional branding technique of archetypes in their commercials, but with...

Are Children Drinking Enough Water?

...Is There A Connection Between Water And Cognitive Function? Introduction According to several studies conducted in the United States, drinking adequate amounts of water does more for children than just ward off dehydration. The studies were done to determine the hydration status of healthy children in the United States and the connection between water and cognitive function. The studies set out to prove whether or not mild dehydration has a negative impact on a child’s ability to function at school. Could there possibly be a connection between the two? Discussion of Objectives A recent study was conducted on a group of 9-11 year olds in Manhattan and LA on their way to school. The group was given 50 dollars to pee in a cup. The urine from nearly 2/3 of the children was considered too concentrated, an indicator that they were dehydrated. Why? Because they weren’t drinking enough water. Three quarters of the children did not drink water between the time when they woke up and when they went off to school (Greger, 2013). But most ate breakfast so they must have been drinking something. The problem is that other beverages are not as hydrating. The levels of sodium, sugars and amino acids in milk and juice can shrink cells and trigger the release of the hormone that signals dehydration (Greger, 2013). So, is there any actual negative...

Tanishq Case Study

... both dramatic as well as subtle changes to create the current image of that of India’s only truly national jeweler that sold gold and gem-studded jewelry in boutiques across the country. Tanishq as a brand emerged from the Titan Industries, which was instrumental in bringing a paradigm change in the Indian Watch Industry by being the first Indian Company to introduce the Quartz Watches. It had entirely changed the market scenario over a period of ten years subsequent to its entry. By the year 1995, Titan Industries was keen to launch a new design watch targeted at the very high end consumer market segment. This gave the birth of Tanishq- as the Jewelry Watch Brand. This was a brand pegged as an ego satisfier, above the mundane and utilitarian. However the Jewelry Watch Brand concept did not click with the consumer as it was perceived to be clunky in design and highly overpriced. In 1996, brand Tanishq was therefore used to offer an entirely new product range to the consumer. This was Precious studded Jewelry. Underlying logic was the possibility of capitalizing on the high pricing of studded jewelry compared to plain gold jewelry, where the gold as a commodity mindset, of the consumer did not allow too many pricing options. However selling studded jewelry required a paradigm shift of the consumer mindset because, studded jewelry used 18 karat gold, which was considered as impure compared to the prevalent 22 karat gold. At this period the marketing campaigns were...
