Each year, 60,000 children [18 years or younger] call a, juvenile detention facility, their home. 75 percent of the children are incarcerated with offenses, which are nonviolent. The US Supreme Court, are looking into, finding new effective ways, to deal with under aged criminals, because, according to Jason Landburg of the Juvenile Justice Blog, “correctional institutions are, generally speaking, dangerous, ineffective (i.e., don’t reduce recidivism or increase public safety) and expensive.” Not only are the offenders faced with dangerous predicaments, Juvenile corrections officers, risk their lives on a daily basis, just to protect the children criminals.
