“Just another drop of water in the glass and eventually the glass overflows.”, an extremely poignant quote from grieving father Kevin Jacobson in an interview that appeared on CBS This Morning. Mr. Jacobson was referring to his deceased fourteen year old son’s experience with being bullied to death. Bullycide is the term used for people that have intentionally committed suicide because of being bullied ("Bullycide | Define bullycide at Dictionary.com," n.d.) Kameron Jacobsen’s story is reflective of what many adolescents in modern society face; a daily non-stop borage of insults and threats of violence. Kameron’s story begins with a normal happy teenager and ends with him committing suicide because he can no longer endure the pain of being…show more content… Kameron’s mother Wanda stated that her son was not only bullied by classmates but by people he considered to be friends. The story airing on CBS was filmed nine months after his suicide but was not aired until September following the suicide of Kevin Jacobsen, Kameron’s father. After a video segment showing Kameron and interview clips his parent appeared in studio to discuss what steps they were taking to help other families dealing with bullies. Together his parents created Kindness Above Malice Foundation (KAM) it serves as both a tribute and legacy for their son to remind people to defend those without a voice (Jacobson, n.d.). Kevin pointed out that bullying has now become a twenty-four hour a day, seven days a week problem that is similar to a sport (Parents speak out on bullying after son's death - CBS News, 2012). Towards the end of the interview one anchor asked, “Did you have any idea of the effect it was having on him (Kameron)?” To which Kevin Jacobsen replied that Kameron had a two and a half year history with being bullied and that schools can no longer take the “one size fits all” approach.
