Theoretical Framework
Fraternities have always gotten a bad rap for their physical hazing and no-work-and-only-play attitudes over the years. Although some fraternities might meet the stereotype that we always see in the movies, there are a lot of professional fraternities that have numerous benefits for joining. Below are some reasons why it might be a good idea for you to join in fraternity. Established fraternities have large alumni networks that can help you get to where you want to be. By joining a fraternity, you are gaining access to vast networking professionals who are always willing to help. You would never be given an opportunity like this had you not pledge. The one advantage of joining a fraternity is that once you become alimni, you are greek member for life. More importantly, the bonds you develop there are stronger than any friendships you might build at a club. You will find the true brothers and sisters from your shared experiences with them, and for the rest of your life you will continue to dedicate yourself to one another.
One of great opportunity you gain from joining a fraternity organization is the ability to take part in a leadership role that can give you skills needed to complete in the working world. Fraternities are always organizing formal events like dinners. rushes, and parties . This chapter shows some theories according to Maslow that might help to understand the study and to give thorough understanding about the research. PROVIDING BELONGING WITHOUT VALUING DIVERSITY
It is important at this juncture to issue a caution to those who might be inclined to use Maslow's hierarchy of needs as a rationale for including students with intensive educational needs in local school general education programs. If inclusion and belonging are adopted because people see an integrated educational experience as a more effective way to teach skills and appropriate behaviour, then inclusion or belonging opportunities become nothing more than an effective strategy to minimize disabilities. The underlying assumption of this view of inclusion or integration is that children and adults with disabilities should be as "normal" as possible. When we see heterogeneous education in this way, we give legitimacy to a world in which uniformity and perfection are valued if not idolized. In this understanding of integration, belonging and achievements still are regarded as prerequisite steps to self-worth. The children are placed in settings where they will feel are they belong so that they might learn the prescribed skills to become "normal" enough to really belong. Again, Maslow's concept of belonging becomes misconstrued and inverted in a different but fundamentally inappropriate way, and its effect upon children is no less damaging.
Ail children are children. The perception that some children are normal and others are deficient and therefore need to be repaired in some way is still a concomitant of a society that values uniformity rather than diversity. The potential of heterogeneous education lies in the possibility of redefining society's concept of "normalcy." When children are given the right to belong, they are given a right to their diversity. They are wholly welcomed into our neighbourhoods as ones who enrich our lives, without the construction of rehabilitative hoops through which they must jump in order to become "normal enough" to belong
Moreover, I believe that good educators feel it is their responsibility to help each student discover what his or her individual strengths and capacities are and then facilitate opportunities for him or her to concentrate and excel in those areas. To mold students into carbon copies of normalcy, all having uniform abilities, is a betrayal of the awesome wonder of an individual. To attempt to do the same to students with disabilities is no less of a travesty.
Gangs as a Casualty
One environment to which some students turn is that of gangs. Here again, Maslow's hierarchy of needs provides a framework for understanding why gangs are becoming increasingly popular among today's youth. Teenage gangs satisfy each level of need in Maslow's hierarchy. When youths join gangs, their physiological needs are met: food, shelter, warmth, and their quasi-physiological needs, such as sex, heroin, and crack, also are met. Youths are provided with a sense of safety in the knowledge that if they are ever harmed by another individual or group, the other gang members will retaliate viciously against those who caused the harm. Moreover, youths are given a strong sense of belonging within the gang, and in this environment the belonging is not based on achievement but instead on simply "wearing one's colors." After passing a one-time initiation ritual, the sense of belonging provided by gangs is extremely close to unconditional. And given this almost unconditional acceptance and inclusion within a gang, the youths' feelings of self-worth naturally flourish. Anchored in this newly found sense of inclusion and self-worth, many youths begin to focus in those areas in which they excel, such as the criminal code (with all of its technicalities and loopholes), karate, stealing BMWs, extortion, and so on.
The almost comical irony is that some school districts try to tempt youths away from gangs, away from an environment of unconditional inclusion and acceptance, back into school, back into society, back into an environment where belonging and acceptance are conditional and must be earned. Furthermore, the earning must take place in a context where the youths know they have previously failed. The fact that many of these youths quickly discard the possibility of returning to school may be surprising for school officials. Maslow, however, hardly would be surprised at the youths' decision. The tragedy within our education system is that we see the continued membership in a gang as the result of a student moral deficiency, rather than seeing the school's structure and intrinsic ideology as the impetus.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Related Foreign Literature 7 ADVANTAGES TO GREEK LIFE
Upon arriving at ONU, you will be faced with numerous challenges in your first few months as well as throughout your entire college career. In your new environment, you will be faced with establishing new friendships and adjusting to the rigors of college academics. Many clubs, organizations, and activities offer things such as friendship, academic support, leadership skills, and social activities. However, only a fraternity/sorority can provide you with all these opportunities, and many others, in one single organization. The fraternity/sorority community is an opportune way for you to ease into the collegiate environment, enabling you to develop socially and intellectually. 1. FRIENDSHIP AND BROTHERHOOD/SISTERHOOD
As a member of the fraternity/sorority community, you will have the opportunity to meet students of various backgrounds with both similar and different interests. Within each chapter, there is a close bond of friendship and brotherhood/sisterhood which only the fraternity/sorority atmosphere can foster. The ideal of brotherhood/sisterhood is the principal foundation upon which each fraternity/sorority is built and from which you will receive the greatest benefit. Every member contributes to this aspect. Brotherhood/sisterhood combines the concept of individualism within the framework of mutual cooperation. As a fraternity/sorority member you will form friendships unlike any found in other organizations. brotherhood/sisterhood is not conformity. No fraternity/sorority is made up of members who are exactly alike. By choosing to become a member of a fraternity/sorority, you will meet brothers/sisters who grow to become your closest friends, those who will cheer you on when you're successful and who will support you when the going gets tough. From this unbreakable support system you can easily branch off into other areas of college life, knowing all the while that your brothers/sisters will be behind you no matter what. 2. ACADEMICS
The academic portion of your university career is one significant determinant in your future success. A primary purpose of the fraternity/sorority community is to encourage and develop high scholastic achievement among its members. Several factors contribute to this academic atmosphere, including peer tutoring, upperclassman counseling, and chapter study hours which introduce new students to the longer and more intense studying that college requires.
Within each fraternity/sorority there are members involved in a wide variety of colleges and departments. This is quite an advantage in two ways: first, you will be able to seek help from others who may be taking or have already taken the same classes; second, there will be upperclassmen who can advise you on which classes and instructors are the best within each field of study. Nationally speaking, just over 50% of students in colleges and universities go on to graduate. However, U.S. Department of Education data shows that members of fraternities and sororities graduate at a rate in excess of 70%! Fraternities help you meet the challenge of balancing academics while gaining the most from your collegiate experience. 3. LEADERSHIP
In the fraternity/sorority, you will be "charge" of an event or a duty. Everyone in the fraternity/sorority is a leader, whether you're an officer, on a committee, or just a participant. You will learn by doing. You'll learn how to manage a budget, run effective meetings, speak in public, motivate others ... skills that will help you in the university and throughout your life. These days it takes more than just a degree to get a good job- it takes leadership experience. 4. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Offering a break from the demands of the classroom is one of the benefits of the Greek community. Throughout the year a fraternity/sorority will participate in many social events such as Homecoming, Parent's Weekend, pre-game tailgates, dinner dances, mixers, backyard barbecues, Greek Week, and special spring formals. These events offer you a good time and a great opportunity to meet and interact with members of the opposite sex. Fraternity/sorority social activities allow members to bring dates or are often held with another fraternity or sorority where you can meet many new faces. These social activities are not required, but for those of us who enjoy a good party, there is no comparison anywhere to the variety, scope, and just plain fun of fraternity/sorority social events. 5. COMMUNITY SERVICE The Greek community at Ohio Northern University provides services to more than just members of fraternities and sororities. One of the many advantages of being a part of the Greek community is the time spent helping others in need. The campus and surrounding Ada community are constantly reaping the benefits of the Greek community. The commitment found in the members of fraternities and sororities can be seen in the enthusiasm they have in giving back to the community in the form of Community Service, known as Philanthropies. Philanthropies are projects and events organized by groups or individuals to benefit the surrounding community. They can involve members from one fraternity/sorority or from all members of the Greek community. What is most important is that fraternities and sororities work side by side to help local or national charitable organizations. These Community Service activities provide us with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. They are just one aspect a person can enjoy as a member of the Greek community at Ohio Northern University. 6. ATHLETICS Each fraternity/sorority participates in the numerous competitive sports through intramurals and Greek tournaments. It's difficult to get a group of people on your own to play team intramural sports, outdoor paintball, or to get a softball game together on a Sunday afternoon. Fraternities/Sororites offer all of this along with the pride of sportsmanship, team spirit, and competition! 7. CAREER NETWORKING Say you've graduated or are just looking for a summer job. Now what? In today's economy and job market, it's going to take more than looking at want-ads and job postings. You need to network with people. The fraternity/sorority is one of the best ways to do just that. Using the resources of fraternity/sorority members like alumni, you may find that job you're looking for - that head start in life, all because you joined a fraternity/sorority. Joining a fraternity/sorority can be an investment in your future.
BENEFITS OF FRATERNITIES
Starting college is an exciting time for students. The college environment is new and unfamiliar. College presents an opportunity to try new things, make new friends and learn new skills. New opportunities lead to increased independence and confidence. Fraternities and sororities offer students a supportive network of friends and mentors throughout the college years. Adjusting to college with the assistance and support of others encourages students to get involved and learn new skills in and outside of the classroom.
Sororities and Fraternities offer students the opportunity to learn about the process and structure of a large organization. In college sororities and fraternities, where every single member is an important part of the "family", everyone has an opportunity to participate. In fact, part of the required learning for most of these organizations is the structure and membership of the group. Members learn communication skills and develop the discipline required to participate socially, and excel academically. All fraternities and sororities have community service involvement and charitable causes that they work towards. In addition, the fraternities and sororities combine forces from time to time and work together on larger events. Organizational leadership and communication skills are developed and strengthened with the Greek experience.
Studies indicate that there are a number of advantages to participation in sororities and fraternities. Greek organizations are self-governing organizations. Students, who participate, have the opportunity to work with faculty advisors and alumni on budgeting, decision-making and policy and procedure development. They learn about membership recruitment and fundraising. Leadership opportunities are widely available and students are assured support while they learn, gain confidence and can eventually assume these leadership positions. Students who join fraternities and sororities are less likely to drop out of college. The Greek community raises large amounts of money and contributes and enormous number of volunteer hours. Students, who participate in these charitable activities in college, are more likely to continue charitable work as graduates and contribute more to their communities. Some research has shown that students affiliated with Greek organizations have higher incomes upon graduation.
The major criticism of fraternities and sororities is the history of hazing practices well documented and publicized in the media. The Greek community has done much to prevent these practices and they are no longer a normal part of pledging a fraternity of sorority. In act, there are college policies, oversight and laws that protect against these abuses of power. Modern Greek organizations are unlike the stereotype that people may still have in mind when they hear the words fraternities and sororities.
The camaraderie and support of a Fraternity and Sorority is the obvious and probably the thing most people think of first. In fact, the friendship and community is perhaps the major reason that students join Greek organizations. The benefits of this support system cannot be underestimated. Greek organizations do have a family structure. New students have an opportunity to become friends with fellow college students, but they also have the opportunity to befriend alumni who are now out in the work world. The opportunities to meet potential mentors and contacts in the professional world in a wonderful benefit of belonging to a Greek organization. Upon graduations, Greek members often network and help each other with job skills, contacts, and even adjusting to a new community. Greek life results in a worldwide network.
Benefits to your fraternal and campus communities
The existence of the Fraternal Values Society on your campus will benefit the community in the following ways: * Provide a home and constant force for the advancement of values congruence, alignment, and the continued relevance of fraternities and sororities; * Stimulate substantial intellectual development and superior intellectual achievement; * Empower individuals who live their lives according to the fraternal rituals; * Opportunities for ongoing values-based dialogue and discourse, for outreach, and re-education of others; * Assert and promote ethical decision-making skills of all members of fraternal organizations; * Influence the structures, programs, and traditions in existence not congruent with our shared fraternal values; * Sponsorship of various educational programs throughout the year; * Promote conduct consistent with good morals and taste, modeling values congruence; * Assistance for individuals and organizations who struggle to reach these standards, and confrontation of individuals and organizations who fail to uphold these values; and, * Public recognition of individuals and organizations who exemplify their organizational and ethical values.

Gener A Review and an Overview – the Introduction As I begin to think on what I will write on my reflections on the significant lessons and insights that I have distilled in my readings for the past two months, I remember that American journalist and essayist Henry Louis “H.L.” Mencken once opined that: “A Historian by his nature, is an unsuccessful novelist.” If there is a commonality that I have noticed in the methodology of writing of the scholarly articles that I have read, it is the fact that majority of them was written in a narrative and historical standpoint.

...#Yes2RH: Selfies in support of the reproductive health law Using the hashtag #Yes2RH, upload selfies on your Facebook and Twitter accounts from March 28 until April 8 in support of the reproductive health law Rappler.com Published 5:26 PM, March 27, 2014 Updated 5:26 PM, March 27, 2014 [pic] MANILA, Philippines – A social media campaign is underway to raise awareness in support of the reproductive health (RH) law, whose implementation has been put on hold by the Supreme Court for a year a now. Republic Act 10354, which would provide information on and access to reproductive health services, is under status quo ante order “until further orders” by the Supreme Court (SC). The law – probably the most polarizing national issue today – was passed on December 18, 2012, after 13 years in Congress. Anti-RH advocates immediately questioned the constitutionality of the law before the SC. The high court is expected to decide on the case in April, with insiders predicting the law could be headed for defeat in the Supreme Court. House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr has said that declaring the RH law as unconstitutional would be "a veto against the will of majority of our people." As decision time nears, frustrated reproductive health supporters are taking the fight to the social media world. The #Yes2RH campaign was initiated by Likhaan Center for Women's Health, in cooperation with several other pro-RH organization. It will run from March 28 until April 8.
