As most would assume, the film industry is filled with writers to develop a story that will be produced one day. In the film industry there are more than just writers, actors, and directors, there are a multitude of people who work behind the scene to make each film, no matter how big or small, a success. My father, Keith Boynton, fills a behind the scene role and is one of the individuals that starts the learning process for our up and coming producers, directors, key grips, lighting specialists, editors, and many more. My father is involved at the educative level of the industry; he is the Senior Director Producer of the Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. With his job there comes many habits that he uses and teaches his students that goes into every level of a film. The habits that…show more content… The request forms for equipment are used on a first come first serve basis and are filled out and submitted by the students no less than two weeks out from film production. After the forms are fully filled out and received in the office my father and his interns will review the request and compare it with the students’ script then make any necessary changes to the form for extra equipment required or equipment no longer needed to verify on paper what equipment is being checked out to have total equipment accountability. On the day that equipment is being check out the student production crew, the interns, and my father will all check the equipment for full inventory of what is supposed to be with the items they are checking out and a quality control check to verify that none of the equipment is broken prior to check out. This is an essential step because many students try to turn in broken gear claiming that it was broken when they checked it
