When it comes to the workplace, a sustainable work environment should be equal, diverse and supportive, which is legally enforced in the US through the Civil rights act of 1964. Kellogg’s has taken this issue to the next level by establishing employee resource groups (ERGs) that offer employees support, networking and development opportunities through various events and projects. Kellogg currently has seven employee resource groups, each focusing on a different segment: Latino, African American, Multinational, LGBT, Military veterans, Women and Young Professionals

Kellogg’s ERG program presents a strong company value of diversity not only internally but also externally: they allow Kellogg’s employees from different departments but with similar backgrounds to connect with each other through projects that concern their respective segments.

For example, the Latino ERG ‘HOLA’ has been involved in putting together curriculum for Spanish conversation classes and also teaching them.
Offering employees the opportunity to explore and strengthen their self-identity through these kinds of projects is something that will positively influence the their job satisfaction, and therefore naturally also improve their work performance.

When it comes to workplace ethics, Kellogg’s employ a thorough code of ethics, called K Values, which lays out the different social responsibilities Kellogg’s take as an employer. Through these values, Kellogg’s encourages reporting risks and safety concerns, emphasizing the importance of that over productivity and meeting deadlines.

In this way, Kellogg’s motivates their employees through the disregard of business benefits, as an employee might put business benefits first, and personal well-being second, thinking the firm would not receive as large business benefits

These two concepts complement each other to the extent in which one must know about both to fully understand the capacity of either. Gender roles are roles each sex is given. Gender inequality and gender roles are one of our countries biggest issues. Gender is how people are seen by society. This is imprinted in the brain at a young age and is formed and molded through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and late adulthood. Each stage comes with different ideas about gender and power. Childhood is the point in life where the environment most influences the formation of gender schemas and stereotypes. Gender schemas are an important part of understanding how a person sees the opposite sex. Gender Schemas are “the generalizations that children develop about the differences between boys and girls” (Stevenson 3). On the other hand there is stereotyping. Stereotyping is also process that begins during childhood. Young children know that male stereotypes are high in power whereas female stereotypes convey fear and helplessness. Kurtzberg Rutgers University ABSTRACT: Two empirical studies explored objectively measured creative fluency and subjectively perceived creativity in cognitively diverse teams. Results indicate that cognitive diversity may be beneficial for objective functioning but may damage team satisfaction, affect, and members’impressions of their creative performance. Subjective ratings diverged greatly from more objective measures and were more closely related to affective measures. The overall findings present creativity as a complex multidimensional construct, and cognitive diversity as an important predictor of both team emotions and outcomes. Arguments are presented for the value of subjectively perceived creativity, even in the absence of more concrete performance in the immediate time period. The concept of creativity spans a multitude of domains from art to science to literature to business and beyond (e.g. Stumpf, 1995; Tang & Leonard, 1985; Williams & Yang, 1999).
