Games using spherical shaped balls have been recorded as early as 1,400 B.c. in MesoAmerica and have evolved into what are now the World’s most prominent sports such as soccer or fùtbol. Games have evolved into sport, which has taken modern society by storm and created one of the largest economical entertainment industries in the world today. The first recorded history of games played with round objects was known as Ōllamaliztli, or simply as, “The Ball Game.” This game had ritualistic associations and has been dated back to 1,400 B.C. Many cultures grew to involve this game into it’s culture and ritualistic lives but the great civilization of the Mayans was the prominent exerciser. “As best as is now known from archaeological and iconographical sources as well as the structure of the sport courts, this was a very physically taxing and important part of Mayan culture.” (Blümchen). Football is a religion here and people take it very seriously. There is more to it than just the physical attributes needed to play. There is much more of a mental side to it as well as emotional. It is also very time consuming and many people fail to understand just how many hours’ football players and coaches put in throughout the week. The preparation starts in June the summer before the season. There are many different camps that the players need to attend if they want to get any playing time. These camps have vigorous lifting and running to try and work off the summer weight that most kids gain during high school. As I mentioned in the Super Bowl paper, ads or commercials that make me smile or laugh are more memorable to me than others. The advertisement, located on 6th avenue on an old phone booth, stated in plain text, “I don’t remember his name, but his apartment…” This is a real attention-grabbing headline. MNS real estate uses sex as an advertising tool, something that is usually not associated with real estate ads. Moreover, by choosing to not include any images and instead emphasize the text, the message is clearer. Based on MNS real estate ad, their target audience is people between the ages of 20-35. They are probably young professionals seeking to buy or rent an apartment in the city. The ad is targeted towards a younger audience because the subject matter is something that is easily relatable to them. For me, the advertisement worked. ...It all started my sophomore year. I was young, undersized and hadn’t gotten the chance to make a name for myself yet. I remember it like it was yesterday, the first meeting we had with the varsity football coach. The first time he would be able to get a look at all the sophomores moving up and give his input on what he thought would develop us into a varsity football player.
