KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS There are many grasses growing in the United States which require different maintenance and care. Some grasses do better in certain temperatures than others do and some are specific to certain regions as well. The purpose of my research paper is to explain the characteristics of Kentucky Bluegrass and its qualities. For example, Kentucky Bluegrass has many characteristics; one of the first characteristics of Kentucky Bluegrass is that it is a dark green colored grass. It is also a cool seasoned grass and has a beautiful appearance. The medium leaf texture has good uniformity and makes a strong sod through its rhizomes.

During very hot weather Kentucky Bluegrass is able to stay green and healthy as long as it is cared for properly. Sometimes it will undergo stress in extremely hot weather. It also thrives in cold weather.
The drought tolerance for Kentucky Bluegrass is medium. Kentucky Bluegrass can get through a drought in the summer time, it won’t stay green during the drought, but with the help of the moisture it will sure come back green as it once used to be. Kentucky Bluegrass isn’t the best with drought tolerance.
The wear resistance of Kentucky Bluegrass is medium. It tends to recover quickly from abuse and foot traffic usage during spring and fall seasons. It tends to recover fast because its rhizomes exchange quickly.
Kentucky Bluegrass water requirements require 2 inches of water per week and even sometimes 2.5 inches of water per week in the summer. Kentucky Bluegrass needs a lot more irrigation than other grasses.
Kentucky Bluegrass is best mowed at 1.5 inches and 2.5 inches to maintain its thick base and to mainly keep most of the moisture in the grass during the times of the really bad droughts. It is never to be cut any lower than 2.5 inches because if this is done its easier for the grass not to have as much moisture as it
