How to Choose the Perfect Derby Hat

The Kentucky Derby has always proven to be synonymous with trendy clothing and high fashion. It is that time of the year for women to let their southern belle out. Billowing dresses and skirts as well as large embellished hats are considered the norm rather than an exception. What’s more, now, the Derby is renowned as much for the continuous display of gobsmacking hats as it is for the horse races. That being said, how to choose the perfect derby hat? Read on.

(1) The Perfect Fit
The hat’s fit is extremely important and can never be overlooked. It should fit in a comfortable manner, without sitting too far behind …show more content…
With large-brimmed hats being the most popular choice during the Kentucky Derby, they are more suited for taller women, with tall crowns looking immaculate on women of shorter stature.

(2) Where to Begin
Generally, with regard to accessories such as hats, they are chosen after the outfit to be worn has been selected. The extras are typically built around the dress. However, when it comes to the Kentucky Derby, you may want to carry out tasks the other way around. Because hats are synonymous with the Kentucky Derby, many women demonstrate a preference to zero in on the ideal hat, and then create and complete their final look and appearance. After all, it may turn out to be easier to locate a gorgeous dress than find the perfect derby hat.

(3) Trendsetter or Trend-follower
Flowery and bright outfits are the general norm when it comes to Kentucky Derby, with large, intricately designed hats turning out to be a perfect match. Dresses and outfits are effectively paired with hats that range from being elegant to whimsical with regard to their design. Hats that perfectly complement your dress will not set you apart from the crowd. To make your appearance at the derby unforgettable, you need to add a bit of unexpectedness to the

Harrah's Case Study

...Harrah’s I. What are the top two reasons you feel Harrah's has a "share of wallet - SOW" problem? People need change, they just don’t realize it. Most people view change as a negative, but the reality is most change is for the better i.e. cell phones, microwaves, refrigerators, cars, etc. Harrah’s was not providing this necessity to their customers. There was no change, no adrenaline rush. They lacked centricity. The right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. Harrah’s has numerous hotels all doing differently. They had data, but there were not using it. II. How does calculating the customer expected net worth help in addressing the SOW problem? Harrah’s will see what is working and what is not working for them by doing an expected net worth per customer. By tracking this data they can offer “new” and “exciting” offers to their customers. III. What key recommendations would you make in solving the SOW problem? If you know a loyal customer is going to Las Vegas, but not staying at a Harrah’s casino simply ask the customer why? Give them chips to use in the Vegas casino as a thank you for filling out the survey. Take a good look at what the other casinos in the area are offering. In fact go stay at some of them to see how hospitality, rooms, grounds compete with your hotel. Without a lot of expense can you match their efforts? Their marketing strategies may be free food while gambling, babysitting services, tickets to the area shows either...

...Post Position Draw of the entries for the Kentucky Derby was held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Churchill Downs Racetrack clubhouse.[8] American Pharoah was installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite.[9] The day after the draw, Todd Pletcher scratched Stanford, stating that the horse was "fine," but they were not pleased with the draw and had been "on the fence" about running in the Derby.[10] On May 1, El Kabeir was scratched due to a possible hoof problem,[11] however the also-eligible Tale of Verve did not get a chance to run since the scratch was made after the cutoff time that allows also-eligible runners to gain a start in the race.[11] Early on race day International Star was also scratched after having problems with his left-front foot.[12] Overall, the 2015 field was considered "the deepest and most talented in decades". Trainer Bob Baffert had the top two favorites: American Pharoah and Dortmund. [13] Dortmund, winner of the Santa Anita Derby, was an undefeated 6–0 entering the race, a feat matched by 1977 winner Seattle Slew and 2004 winner Smarty Jones. American Pharoah was 4–1, having placed fifth in his debut before running off four straight victories, including an eight-length win in the Arkansas Derby.[13] Baffert described the experience as like being "on pins and needles all week long," as reporters and fans expected one of his two horses to win.[13] Other notable horses in the field included the undefeated Florida Derby champion Materiality; Frosted, who beat...

Stress Managment

...Stress Management Identify a specialty that fits for your geographic area and justify your selection. In the United States, 75% of the population has reported experiencing some level of stress every two weeks. On top of that, half of these people experience moderate or high levels of stress in the same two weeks (“Stress facts and statistics,”, 2010). High levels of stress are more harmful than most may realize. The long term exposure to stress can disrupt almost all your body's processes. This puts you at increased risk of numerous health problems, including: heart disease, sleep problems, digestive problems, depression, obesity, memory impairment, and the worsening of skin conditions, such as eczema (Mayo clinic, 2010) According to Livestrong.com, Phenobarbital, Butabartital, Butalbital, Amobarbital, Alprazolam, Chlordiazepoxide, Clonazepam, and Diazepam are all common medications used for the treatment of stress (Andrews, 2011). But the popularity of finding new treatments that do not involve medications has been rapidly increasing. That being the case, I would introduce stress management specialists into my facility. A stress management specialist can help one reduce, prevent and cope with stress in their life by teaching them organization skills, relaxation skills and time management. Stress Management Specialists are trained to identify the source of stress so that they can best recommend how to cope with and manage the stress as well as how to avoid stressful...

Should Grand National Be Cropped Essay

...Should the Grand National be cropped? The Grand National, an event that captures an audience of over 10 million, who wait perched at the edge of their seats in excitement and hope that their bet may just be the triumph of the big race. It’s that day where winnings are celebrated by all. It’s that day where newspapers will capture moments and make it their top story for people to read and remember but, it’s also the day that will mark the beginning or the end for the runners of the race. It’s the day where lives of innocent horses are taken by the track. Since 1839, when the first official annual Steeplechase was held at the Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool, horse racing authorities have modified the course to increase its element of safety. However, the course still contains fences more challenging than any fence a horse would be faced with on conventional National Hunting tracks. The Becher’s Brook, The Chair and the Canal Turn are all known for their danger and have in time been the cause of many fatalities and injuries during the big race, even just the name is sufficient in making any jockeys blood run cold. Nevertheless, out of all the 16 fences within the course the Becher’s Brook is clearly the most lethal one out of them all. At a whopping height of four foot ten inches with a shadow falling six foot nine inch drop lurking the other side it's known infamously worldwide. Furthermore it isn't just the poor positioning of the fence that’s the problem, it's the angle...

Southern and Thompson: the Kings of Gonzo

...The Kings of Gonzo Gonzo journalism is the rebel sub-genre of new journalism. First being used to describe the article “The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved” by Hunter S. Thompson, gonzo journalism is described by Wikipedia as “A style of journalism that is written without claims of objectivity, often including the reporter as part of the story via a first-person narrative.” The fact that the reporter is using a first-person narrative breaks one of the four rules of new journalism, but that's the reason gonzo journalism is so fresh and exciting to read. Although Hunter S. Thompson has become synonymous with gonzo journalism, and for good reason, I believe Terry Southern has also made major contributions to this amazing sub-genre of new journalism. Hunter S. Thompson's “The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved” completely revolutionized journalism, and due to it's popularity, enabled Thompson to continue to write gonzo journalism, and make a career out of it, for his entire life, until ending his life in 2005. Thompson's article, and this can be said about all of his articles, is that they have nothing to do about the actual event that he's covering and that Thompson himself ends up becoming the event. It's even evident at the very beginning of the article that the story will have nothing to do with The Kentucky Derby. The derby isn't even mentioned until the fourth paragraph, and it's from a man named Jimbo who doesn't want Thompson to act like a “faggot...
