What did you like about this script?

This script offers undertones of good slapstick humor and an almost lighthearted approach to a serious subject matter.

It was great to observe Kerrigan and Audra’s relationship throughout the script and I thought it was smart to reveal Audra already knew about her brother’s sexual orientation on page 67.

I also liked Audra’s reactions to her father, Gary throughout the script because it hinted to the fact that she may have known about Kerrigan and was trying to protect, as well as defend her brother.

Another aspect about his script that I liked was the way the writers introduced Kerrigan’s parents to Matt and Fran’s group individually. As it allowed for them to inadvertently form their own connections …show more content…
Overall, I think that tone and characterization in this script still needs work. While the story's protagonist harbors an amicable and relatable personality, it felt as though Kerrigan's character arc fell short of the anticipated outcome.
Moreover, I would suggest that the writers be careful with the amount of stereotypical characteristics and slapstick gags incorporated in the script. Quite a few of the outlandish actions and gestures that unfold in act one around pages 21-25 and into the beginning of act two were executed well.
However, the continuous usage of the gags began to affect the credibility of the narrative. For example on page 46 when Fran gets angry with Matt for attempting to pull a prank on Gary because Fran resents the generic stereotype view of the gay community.

This is a great springboard opportunity to give these characters more depth and make them less superficial, but Matt’s character simply leaves and the exact storyline blunders Fran spoke out against continue.

Likewise, I would suggest that writers take a closer look at Gary, Trevor and Officers Finland and Deb. I found their reactions and behavior throughout the script to be on the cliché side. On pages 64-65 for example, when Matt is pulled over driving back from the beach. Besides the full car of people, is it likely that the officers would give them so much
