Animal Farm is a historical novel, set in England but dealing with the events leading up to and after the Russian Revolution of 1917. It illustrates the idea expressed by Lord Acton that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This abuse of power can be demonstrated by studying Napoleon’s actions in the book(Alex K.). In chapters 6 and 8, the windmill is attacked. How the two relate is that both are destroyed by attackers and both are rebuilt. The Pentagon was attacked by terrorists on September 11, 2002. It was badly damaged by a plane that flew directly into it. Many people were killed and it negativly affected everyone involved. " There was fire on all five floors and the air was smoky and hot. The floor tiles were literally "popping" off the floor out of the water due to the intense heat of the fires burning on the floor beneath us, and some of the water was turning into steam. Ceiling had fallen and ventilation systems dangled down. While working our way through the building, we encountered extreme fire conditions, numerous fatalities, and unfortunately no survivors. The devastation was unbelievable. We found an inch or so of water on almost every floor. The hallways were dark and some were smoked filled while others had the fire alarms still sounding." He took away many basic human rights. In many instances, he took those rights and gave himself extra luxuries. Under the power of Kim Jong Il, international treaties were often broke. Examples are, the launching of missiles and possession of illegal weaponry. Freedom limitations in the novel Animal Farm include, the animal's freedoms were limited when Mr.Jones ran the farm. But they found themselves even more limited when Napoleon took over the farm. The animals were forced to work under Napoleon, with little reward. Even after the farm's hardest worker, Boxer, grew old and was injured, he was sold to be slaughtered. Compared to the happy retirement he envisioned. The animals had no ability to question the authority of Napoleon. Any actions that took place, went unquestioned. Partly because of Squealer, who persuaded the animals that Napoleon was right.
