Ferrero, which grew from a family pastry shop into one of the world's largest candy makers, first entered the U.S. with its Tic Tac breath mints in 1969. It followed up with Nutella in 1983, which went on to become hugely popular after a big advertising push. By the late 60's, mothers were more attentive to nutrition and kids became pickier about what they liked to eat. “Michele Ferrero, the creator of the Kinder brand, took these two factors to heart and came up with a balance between the two – the Kinder Chocolate bar created with kids in mind because it is divided into small individually wrapped portions, allowing mothers to feel comfortable with what they are giving their children.” (4) Today, the Kinder brand is well-known all across Europe and is expanding rapidly around the world, recognized for the variety, quality and creativity of its products. The candy half is a pudding-like cream, which kids scoop out of the shell with a little plastic spoon. It has two “wafer balls” to add crunchiness. The eggs will be suitable for children ranging from 3-12 years. “Ferrero will release more than 40 different toys to “please any child”, including racing cars and crayons.”(5) The toy’s cost is also included in the overall price of the product. In addition the product price must include the marketing and advertising cost. They will be exclusive at Walmart for 30 days, and then at other retailers. Each egg will retail for $1.34 each.
