KINDS OF STUDENTS IN FIB UI
There are three main kinds of students in FIB UI based on my one year observation of being an FIB UI student. The first and the most common one is organization oriented students or what we call “Kura-Kura (Kuliah-Rapat)” students. These students are a member of more than two organizations or become a committee in some of events. They spend mostly of their times for having some meetings. Some of them usually find themselves hard to manage their time for studying and for their organizations. However, some others can still manage their time well. My friend, Putri, for example, has at least four meetings every week, but her GPA is always above 3.5, which means she can still manage her time effectively. The second one is study oriented students or what we call “Kupu-Kupu (Kuliah-Pulang)” students. They are not a member of any organizations, nor a committee of any events. They spend their time in campus to study and read books at library. One of my friends, Annissa, for example, studies harder than everyone and prefers to go home directly after the class has been dismissed than to have meetings. However, she still likes to play or chat with her friends, not really a nerd type. The third one is “Kunang-Kunang (Kuliah-Nangkring)” students. They spend most of their time in campus cafeteria. My brother, Wanda, who already graduate from bachelor degree for instance, spent most of his time in campus chatting with friends in campus cafeteria and playing play station in his friend’s rented house. Although this kind of students usually doesn’t have a good grade in class, they have interpersonal skill more than others that allow them to mingle with everyone easily. To conclude, based on what they do to spend their time in campus, “Kura-Kura’, “Kupu-Kupu’, and “Kunang-Kunang” are the main kinds of students in FIB UI.
