...If you are designing a new clean tile kitchen or have plans to remodel your existing kitchen, your project will go over a lot smoother if you have a great plan in place ahead of time. This can help you coordinate things like furniture, colors, appliances, tile flooring, and marble countertops, since not everything natural goes together. ... Corey Hall 9/21/11 Jordan and I were playing hide and seek. He was seeking and I was hiding under my aunt's bed. I could hear my aunt calling for Jordan to come into the kitchen, so I followed him. Peeking around the corner, I could see a short, slim black women sitting in a chair at the kitchen table. When Jordan entered the kitchen she motioned for him to take a seat in the chair across from her. I could hear her asking him questions about his mom and things that had happened to him. They talked for about thirty minutes the she and my aunt exchanged words in private. Then my aunt turned to tell Jordan to get his belongings because he was going with the lady in the kitchen. I had a funny feeling the entire time the lady was talking to my cousin. I could tell something wasn’t right, because we never really have company and when we do they always tell us kids to go play. Today was different and I was scared of what would happen. As Jordan started to pack his things I started to cry. At the time I didn’t know why I was crying but it felt nesseccary. Once Jordan finished packing we took what seemed like the longest walk ever down the hall back to the kitchen where the lady was waiting to take my cousin away. "Ready to go?" Jordan didn’t respond he just turned around hugged me and said goodbye. I watched out of my grandparent’s window as the lady and my cousin disappeared down the porch into the dark...

...Johnny st.hilaire My Dream House Johnny st.hilaire My Dream House ` DREAM HOUSE My dream house, what would it be what would it look like it, and most important where will I build it. I like the countryside wide open areas, maybe farm lands with some animals. But I do like the city life with the nose, rude people, and heavy traffic on the high way. There is pros and cons to both environment, the countryside close to no air pollution, but less services you need to travel more to access services. The pros and cons of the city life more cultural opportunities, more diversity of people, more opportunities for higher education, better services like trash collection, water and sewer, cons more crime, more pollution, higher costs living. So as you can see I am little undecided about my dream house so. I am just going to explain two type of dream houses and locations one countryside and one in the city. First the city it would most likely be in Broward County a lake front home of course “I love water”. It would be 3 story house because it’s very hard to build full basements here. So one of the floors would be more like a half basement because the property will have a 3 car garage. The outside of the house would be a dark brown wood siding, and then a simple rock base that goes up about 1 feet on the house to give the old house effect. The side facing the water would be all glass so we can always look out to the gorgeous...

...Christmas cookie event, because there probably was not mid-year cookie baking taking place. I hope Shelby holds on to our baking memories as she grows up. The beginning of this cooking fiasco is putting on the proper attire. There are two beige aprons that hang in our kitchen. A red and black swirl design screen printed on the front surrounds the word “Mommy” on mine, and “Me” on hers. They were a gift from one of Shelby’s schoolteachers. She typically hands me mine, we both put them on and she waits for me to tie hers behind her back. Shelby would cook every meal with me if I let her. Unfortunately, cooking with my child is not conducive to efficient meal preparation, or edible meals for that matter. Now that we are properly dressed, we collect all of our ingredients. We get from the pantry, the flour, white and brown sugar, salt, and baking soda. Then we open the refrigerator to get the eggs, and retrieve the vanilla from the spice rack. We set it all out on the gray Formica kitchen counter, get out all of our measuring cups and spoons, two large bowls, a spatula and the Kitchen Aid mixer. The mixer is housed in the pantry and collects dust until we are ready to bake cookies. The absurd weight of a Kitchen Aide Mixer, the lengthy clean up and...

...China, Made in Japan, Made in Mexico”. Very rarely will I pick up a piece of packaging and notice the word Canada. These days, so many of the products we use daily are made overseas. Unfortunately thriving nations such as Canada and the United States take advantage of developing countries. Looking at China specifically, they are abundant in natural resources and they have a high population. This allows them to produce high-tech products at low-budget prices. I feel I take these things for granted. I use these things every day and not once have stopped to think of where they come from. To continue, one of my favourite things to do is cook. I’ve been in the kitchen with my mother as long as I can remember. We make lasagna, carbonara, arancini, tiramisu, cannoli – the list goes on and on. Clearly, a common trend in our kitchen is Italian food. Not only is it delicious, but it is one more way I see myself connected to...

...quickly being put to use. By 1915 Herbert’s 80 qt. mixer became much more of a standard use in kitchens on U.S. navy vessels and in many bakeries around the U.S. The only thing holding him back at this point from jumping into business was strictly because of WW1. But luckily by 1918, many company executives began to test these machines out in kitchens in American homes, so the popularity of the mixer began to rise. Not much later, the 5 qt. countertop mixer came into the picture. But high costs, each mixer costing about $189.50 (which today that be equivalent to about $2,000), led to not so many people rushing to buy the device. So about 10 years later a man by the name Egmont Ahrens, slimmed it down and cut the costs to about $55. I’m not quite sure how much that would be today. The Kitchen Aid mixer took a while to really get into the system. So a way that the company fixed this was by sending women door to door with the mixer, having them go into the private kitchens of homes kitchens and giving first hand demonstrations. This way of getting the product out, worked! Many attachments, used for a variety of different things, could be put on this mixer. Ranging from a pea splitter, to a meat grinder. And the attachments created in 1919, would still be able to fit into a brand new 2012 addition mixer. It has stayed somewhat the same for a whole entire lifetime. I own a kitchen aid. They should be common in every household, they are reasonably priced based on their durability...

...Teamwork In the Kitchen Teamwork in the kitchen is a basic requirement as it is the main key of successful performance for anyone who is, going to or will join this most important department of hospitality. The purpose of this essay is to explain the concept of teamwork and how it applies to kitchen environment. Also, examples of personal experience of teamwork in class are provided to illustrate its effectiveness as a way to achieve common goals. Dwyer (2013, p. 224) defines teamwork as a cooperative effort by the members of a group or team to achieve common goals and objectives. This means that in a team, all members need to contribute to the common effort communicate and help each other to achieve set goals. The characteristics of effective teams include having clear goals, results- driven structures, competent team members, collaborative climates, unified commitment, good communication, principle leadership, and internal and external support (Kayse, 2012). Teamwork is particularly important in the kitchen environment. In the kitchen, chefs are effectively team leaders who are responsible for organising the team to meet its goal(s), the quality of the team’s output, developing the team and the interface between the team and the organisation (Hardingham, 1995, pp.32-33). Carefully explaining goals to all kitchen staff and setting out all the standard requirements are some of the responsibilities of the chef. In the kitchen where different people...

...huge home entertainment center that contains a 60 inch RCA television and two glass shelves cover up most of the wall in front of the couch. Beside the entertainment center is a 50 gallon fish tank with beautiful angel fish in it. On the cream painted walls are Thomas Kinkade paintings. I love his art work. Throughout my home you will also notice the hardwood floors that look as if it was waxed with baby oil. My home smells like Japanese cherry blossoms from the walls scents I purchased at bath and body works. Walking out of the den you will see to the right the master bedroom. Walking into the kitchen you will see the oval shape wood kitchen table with four matching chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel appliances. The small kitchen window is decorated with beige curtains, and the cherry wood cabinets cover up almost all the walls in the kitchen. Walking out the kitchen will lead you to the dining room, which is also connected to the living room. In the dining room is a long wood rectangle dining room table that has six chairs with beige cushions that are as comfortable as sitting on bales of hay. Also in the dining room is a cherry wood china cabinet with two glass doors that has all of my mother’s delicate crystal dishes in it. On the living room walls are paintings of God and other paintings of our religion. In the living room is a beige couch and a matching love seat with a glass coffee table and two end tables with gold accents. The living room also has...

...Make Green Delicious: Sustainability at Jamie Kennedy Kitchens What are the key challenges of designing a restaurant in a sustainable way? The Wine Bar generated the most profits for Jamie Kennedy Kitchens partly due to its attractive design. The Wine Bar had an open kitchen, where customers witness the organic ingredients used in the meal preparation. This design strategy attracted the younger segment as well as the professional clients. The design further incorporated the style of hand written menu lists and the architecture of the vineyard that stretched throughout the dining room. The restaurant has the feel of a complete food experience. When the customer enters into a Jamie Kennedy Kitchen restaurant, he/she could feel the excitement about the food experience at different levels. However the key challenge is the relocation of the restaurant to meet the environmental friendly objectives that can affect the geographic segmentation of targeted customers. Further efforts would be needed to address the relocation. Some of the strategies would include the incorporation of more value added products and communication to a broader audience base. Even if this decision took place, it would require Kennedy to offer more value added products, communicating with larger and different audience and catering for a broader range of sustainability. The change in the menu lists causes price list revision that can be a major additional cost to the business. Kennedy further wanted to relocate...

...Poster 3: The Kitchen is the Key to Victory. This picture depicts a lady in a kitchen setting. There is an image of a large golden key instead of the word Key. This has more visual impact than using the word, it draws the eye of the viewer and makes them think more about the message being put across. The lady in the picture has a large saucepan in her hands which has steam coming out of it. There is a large aga style range behind her. The saucepan lid is on and the viewer cannot see what is in it. This allows the viewers imagination to create images of all sorts of delicious contents, in the hope of that it creates thoughts of alternative meals to bread. The words The Kitchen is the Key to Victory are in golden letters to give a sense of the richness and prosperity that are to be associated with victory. Below these words are the words Eat Less Bread. These are in red for more impact and to get the message across, it is an instruction, not a request. This poster is one of the many posters which were used during rationing, it is designed to involve the viewer so that every citizen feels that they can help in the War effort, they don’t have to be fighting on the front line or working in the factories making weapons, tanks or planes. It makes the housewife’s left behind feel that they have a huge part to play in the War effort which will then drive them to economise helping to alleviate the pressure on the Government to feed the population. Poster 4: More Aeroplanes are Needed...

...The Appositive Recognize an appositive when you see one. An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. The appositive can be a short or long combination of words. Look at these examples: The insect, a cockroach , is crawling across the kitc hen table. The insect, a large cockroach , is crawling across the kitchen table. The insect, a large cockroach with hairy legs , is crawling across the kitchen table. The insect, a large, hairy-legged cockroach that has spied my bowl of oatmeal , is crawling across the kitchen table. Here are more examples: During the dinner conversation, Clifford, the messiest eater at the table , spewed mashed potatoes like an erupting volc ano. My 286 computer, a modern-day dinosaur , chews floppy disks as noisily as my brother does peanut brittle. Genette' s bedroom desk, the biggest disaster area in the house , is a collec tion of overdue library books, dirty plates, computer components, old mail, cat hair, and empty potato chip bags. Reliable, Diane's eleven-year-old beagle , chews holes in the living room carpeting as if he were still a puppy. Punctuate the appositive correctly. The important point to remember is that a nonessential appositive is always separated from the rest of the sentence with comma(s). When the appositive begins the sentence, it looks like this: A hot-tempered tennis player, Robbie charged the umpire and tried to crac k the poor man's skull with a rac ket. When...

...scooped up the national newspaper from the mat behind the front door, turned, looped her hands behind her husband’s neck and pulled him down to her for a goodbye kiss. There wasn’t much space in their tiny semi-detached hall and although he avoided the bodily contact she engineered as he squeezed past her and out of the door. It was a daily tease that Alice enjoyed. Alice watched him disappear down the road towards the railway station where he would catch the same train he caught every working day to the same office with the same people. She waved cheerfully, knowing he wouldn’t be looking – because he never did. The front door clicked closed behind her an she walked into the kitchen with quick tiny steps. Deftly, she clicked the switch to boil the kettle, pulled out a chair from behind the kitchen table, patted her too light curly fair hair, pursed her lips and read on. ‘Police have no leads in holiday home murder and fear now stalks the pretty valley where this attractive woman lost her life.’ Alice usually avoided sensational stories about murders. In her opinion, they were profiting from someone else’s grief. These stories offered little for the reader. They were usually repetitive and almost always lacked meaningful detail. But this one was different. The tattoo and the victim’s name reminded her of a friend she had known in school. ‘Estelle’ was an unusual name. It suited the gay, vivacious young woman who had started life in an orphanage, grabbed every...
