Kittens are adorable and have taken the internet by storm, but they can be a handful for even the most experienced cat owner. They need lots of attention, can be spooked easily, will attack anything that moves, and can get into some interesting situations. Though after all of that, don’t give up on the difficult times, because in the end it’s worth it. In the summer of 2013 my family adopted two kittens from a local shelter. They were very cute, but like most kittens, were afraid of their surroundings. It is often advised that kittens be kept in one room in the house for the first two weeks. I searched everywhere, under the couch, in the bathroom, behind chairs, and just about anywhere I could think of. I knew I kept all the doors and windows closed, I had only left through a single door, so they had to still be in this room. At this point I was really only frustrated that I couldn’t find the, I didn’t think they could really go anywhere. When my mom finally came home, she started to freak out and accused me of not looking hard enough. Though when she also couldn’t find the kittens she changed her tune and then began drilling me about if I had left the door to the unfinished cellar, the garage, or even to the outside.
