The Dark Knight

...do some research on this film because I never seen the whole thing and it also has been a long time since I saw the parts that I did. I needed to brush up on the film so that I could make sure I knew what I was speaking of. After I had reviewed the research I have done, it turns out that Andy was right about The Dark Knight being the most popular film in the summer of 2008. It turns out that the film was first released in Australia, on July 16, 2008; it was two days later July 18, 2008 that it was released in North America. It wasn’t till July 24, 2008 when it was released in the United Kingdom. With over $1 billion in revenue worldwide and it is the seventh highest- grossing film of all time. I found that he was also correct when he stated that the film was a continuation from Batman Begins. The Dark Knight was filmed in many different places but the main filming took place in Chicago. The other parts took place in several parts of the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. The Dark Knight is a film about a superhero, which was directed and co- written by Christopher Nolan. The film was also produced by Charles Roven and Emma Thomas. The Dark Knight was based on the DC Comics and is part of Nolan’s Batman film series. Christian Bale played the lead character (Batman/Bruce Wayne). The Knight In Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales

...The Knight: Pilgrim Analysis In the general prologue of the Canterbury Tales, the Knight is the first of the pilgrims to be described because he is of the highest rank. Therefore, it is only fitting that he goes first. In Chaucer’s work, he “. . . creates his knight in such a historical detail that we can easily explore the specific kind of knight he might have been . . .” (Calabrese 3). Chaucer describes his knight as “. . . a most distinguished man . . .” (Coghill 4). The narrator illustrates the Knight to be a man who “followed chivalry, truth, honor, generousness and courtesy” (4). Furthermore, the Knight presents himself in a polite fashion, never speaking insensitive words about anyone. Through Chaucer’s words and descriptions, it...

Difference Between The Knight And The Squire

...Canterbury Tales” by Geoffry Chaucer, he tells a story about a knight and a squire. The knight and the squire just so happen to be father and son. Even though they are both aiming to be great and noble knights, they have different ways of getting there. Although they bear some minor similarities the difference between the knight and the squire are quit, clear. The knight is the most respected and honorable person on the pilgrimage. For example, he is motivated by his religion, and his service to the king. This shows that he is willing to put others and God before himself. This is important because this shows characteristics of a true and noble knight. In addition, the knight also does not care about how he dresses. He wears a fustian tunic stained with dark smudges from his armor. Therefore, this reflects on all the hard work the knight has put into battle. As a result the knight is what every knight should be....

Samurai And Knights Dbq Analysis

...Samurai and Knights: Were The Similarities Greater Than The Differences? Samurai and knights were warriors who fought for their lords. The important idea is that from roughly 1000 to 1600 AD in Japan and Europe, samurai horsemen and knight horsemen were the muscle and soul of the warrior class. After studying the documents, I feel that the similarities were not greater than the differences. Even though they lives so far apart the samurai and knights did share some similarities. For instance, they both had a great love and devotion to poetry. Samurai learned/studied poetry in school, and some knights made their living reciting poetry to an audience (Document C). Another example is that samurai and knights both fought on horseback. In the...

The Dark Knight

...The Dark Knight came out in 2008, when George W. Bush was President, so I was 14 at the time and Emily was 12. I remember going to the theater the day it came out because I was never more excited for a movie. I have been a fan of the Batman franchise since I was a kid; my older sister and I would constantly watch the Batman VHS's that we had until they were too scratched up from use. Emily watched the film with all of her boy cousins because they wanted her to see it with them. I was so intrigued to see a new interpretation of an already golden performance by Nicholson, and since this role was different than anything Heath Ledger had done before, I knew it was going to be either incredible or awful. Emily noted that the powerful emotions between the characters and the brooding cinematography created an intense viewing experience for the audience, which helped them connect to the story. The scene that we chose is an essential part of the movie. It is one of the first and most significant interactions between the Joker and Batman. To set the tone, prior to this scene, the Joker was finally in police custody after wrecking mass chaos in Gotham, and Lieutenant Gordon begins an interrogation with the Joker to try to find information regarding the disappearance of District Attorney Harvey Dent. However, the Joker is unwilling to provide any valuable information, so Gordon leaves the rest of the interrogation up to Batman, who of course had been hiding in the shadows of the dimly...

Bobby Knight

...Steve Jobs is what we as a society can define as one of a kind. Jobs revolutionized the technology business through his innovative ideas and narcissistic leadership style. Although many critics described Jobs as a harsh leader, he built the world’s most valuable technology company. When compared to the sports industry, a similar personality to Jobs would be Bobby Knight, Indiana’s all-time winning basketball coach. Knight has won over nine hundred collegiate games in his career and won the NCAA Championship three times. Knight’s leadership and management had a similar style to Jobs, often associated with the words harsh, demanding, successful, and cruel. Both leaders had similar styles due to pushing the boundaries and demanding hard work and success. Steve Jobs’ critics often tend to point out the harshness in his personality. In reality, it was his personality that brought Apple to life as a company. Without Jobs’ vision, desire for perfection, and persistence, Apple could have died out or been overtaken by another technology firm. Jobs’ led with high emotion and intensity, often leading to confrontation and verbal abuse. However Jobs put it best, saying “these are all smart people I work with, and any of them could get a top job at another place if they were truly feeling brutalized. But they don’t “(Isaacson 4). People working for Jobs saw his vision and experienced the results. It was no coincidence Apple became the largest technology company in the world under...
