COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Junior Fellowship Experience (JFE) Short Term Fellowship is one semester opportunity for the student to: 1) gain an in-depth understanding about a STEM field of their interest, 2) perform appropriate research or participate in task/project development, 3) investigate professional sources of information within the community, and 4) present highlights of the experience. Students are required to develop a Project Proposal in conjunction with their mentor and supervising teacher and are encouraged to refine their work to submit to the district science fair and/or a national competition. Students in the Short Term Fellowship experience will spend between 5 – 10 contact hours per week for approximately 9 weeks within a mentoring organization or working on an independent project. Students will be required to enroll in a JFE Research & Design course and meet regularly with their GSMST faculty advisor. It is important students seek appropriate supervision for their projects and, if needed, follow all protocols outlined by the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, maintain proper safety protocols and seek required approvals such as through the School Institutional Review Board (IRB). At the discretion of the Internship Coordinator, administration of GSMST, and/or mentor, a student may be removed from an internship. If deemed necessary, a student will be removed immediately, an approved letter of apology will be sent to the mentor, and other consequences will be determined.

• Hours & Tasks and Responsibilities Log— you will report to your JFE class for all Anchor Days (see Pacing Guide). On non-Anchor Days, you will sign-in/out in the SRC in order to provide accurate information about your attendance at the worksite and/or school. You will turn in a “completed hours” log along with a brief description of your “tasks and responsibilities” over the time period approximately every 3 weeks. The log can be created and maintained electronically and printed out after each 3 week period. The printed log must be signed by your mentor to validate the hours.

Ticket Pricing Recommendation: We recommend a tiered pricing strategy that considers our three objectives: 1) revenue maximization, 2) accessibility, and 3) attendance. To meet these objectives we divided the potential consumers into segments (see Exhibit 1) based on the product features that each segment values. We then adjusted ticket prices relative to the segment's price sensitivity, willingness to pay, and utility derived from the Olympic events. The methodology we applied to our model was focused on indirect pricing discrimination primarily allowing for self-selection based on different tiers of events (based on projected popularity), event round (preliminaries v. finals), and seat location. We complemented this methodology with several targeted strategies aimed at increasing both attendance and accessibility.
