Kroisos and King Menkaure and Queen
Throughout time, humans have been represented in artwork. With each great civilization, different conventions are used to depict the human figure, especially between Egypt and Greece. When Greece art was first developed, it borrowed many characteristics from Egyptian works. However, there are also significant differences between the human representations of the two cultures as well, as can be seen in Kroisos and King Menkaure and Queen. Both Kroisos and King Menkaure and Queen were representations of real people. Both statues stand relatively tall, with Kroisos at 76” tall and King Menkaure and Queen at 54 ½” tall.
