Vonnegut makes use of ironic details in order to convey a message of toxicity within the dystopian society. To begin with, the citizens were living in a new America where “nobody was smarter than anyone else,” and this new America is run by people who must be smarter than everyone else (Vonnegut 1). The irony in this is that the leader believes that everyone must be equal, however she can’t be, and she could use her advantages to control everyone, just like they tried avoiding, showing the negatives within this society. Secondly, WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT HOW THEY HAVE BAD JOBS. In this society, people are forced to have jobs that they are not good at, in order to make other people feel good about themselves, which is extremely harmful to the citizens,
