December 4, 2015 Work stress and its effects in Wall Street

Wall Street is to be considered one of the most powerful market place in the world. It is a dream for the people interested in the financial sector; where successful bankers make tremendous amount of money. But, what really is Wall Street? It is consider one of the most important financial markets in the world. It is a street in southern Manhattan, New York. It is home to numerous firms as well as the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ (Investopedia, 2015). Wall Street is a magnificent marketplace where making a good earning and having a good lifestyle looks achievable. But, that is not all true and easy. By the research made for previous papers on this topic, its has been shown that Wall Street is not all roses and violets. Remember, not everything that shines is gold, and not everything that is gold, shines. Employees in the financial sector, bankers to be more specific, endure painfully long hours during the week. Hours average between 80 to 120 hours per week, which is significantly higher than what the normal person works weekly (Ross, 2015). Some might argue that this is something that cannot be changed. The working demand in Wall Street is very high, expectations are very high, therefore the hours and the workload will accumulate and increase. But Wall Street is too much. Working the average amount of hours in Wall Street will potentially lead to stress. Work stress might seem normal, but the level of stress endured by bankers in Wall Street is abnormal. This stress leads to unhealthy lifestyle habits, which in turn cause the use of illegal substances, such as cocaine to stay awake longer and to be more efficient. This effect typically ends in addiction. An alternative to illegal substance is that they tend to use alcohol with the

My family and close friend would say I am to kind for my own good but I am a hard worker and I do not give up very easily. 2. What “constructive suggestions” would others offer to help you improve or change? I don’t have what you call a back bone, I don’t like to say no especially if I can help. My family or friend will tell me I need to learn to say “NO” it’s simple. Sometimes I go out my way to help others. 3. What do you most like about yourself? I am what you can say a go getter, I always want what best for me. I live life to the fullest, because tomorrow is not promise. My slogan inspiration “vivre la vie”. Which simply mean “live life.” I am currently taking care of my mother, and my 6 months old baby my sister kind of expects me too because of my background. 4. What do you most dislike in yourself and would like to change? My timid sometimes make me miss on opportunity, I hate rejection. And I have a big heart it seems the bigger the heart the easier it is to break in life. People take you for granted and use it to their advantages. 5.

Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world, but he crossed several challenges before becoming the best.
