Lada and Laleh were two 29 year old competent adults. They understood all of the risks that were involved with the surgery. They felt as if the benefits (being separated) outweighed the risks (possibly death). They informed a close family member about their wishes, and that if something went wrong with the surgery they asked for them to continue no matter what. These girls were determine to have this surgery. The surgeon agree to do it because there was a medical possibility that they could survive the surgery, and he empathize with them for wanting an independent life (Fremgen, 2016).
