After binge watching past Super Bowl National Anthems a couple of weeks ago, (a yearly tradition) I am confused with the style of hype surrounding Miss. Lady Gaga’s Interpretation of the anthem this year. Don’t get me wrong; I appreciate Gaga’s Talent in the Music Industry, and this is not an attack on her at all. So before the Internet trolls start casting their torches, please understand that this is my personal thought on this year's Super Bowl discussion and NOT of her as an Artist. I want to make it clear that I felt she sang great, and her style was very touching. I’ve heard people complain in various sites saying: “why can't artists sing the National Anthem the “traditional” way?” Personally, I don’t think that is a sensible argument- …show more content…
Which makes me wonder, is it really a good practice to compare artists?
To have personal favorites is one thing; but to say one artist is the best at to performing it, and others aren’t, is something entirely different. Why can’t we appreciate each artist as individuals?
I’ve read several times in the last couple of weeks that Gaga’s rendition is next to Miss Whitney Houston’s. And in some cases, people have stated better. I am here to say that is not true, nor is it fair to say about either artist. (Sensibility speaking of course)
However, I will say that Gaga’s Interpretation brought some magic and emotion for many people on Super bowl Sunday.
In the past, Mr. Jimi Hendrix, Miss. Mariah Carey, Miss. Jennifer Hudson, The Dixie Chicks, and an array of artists throughout the years brought some magic and emotion in their own …show more content…
It is special. That is why (almost) every year a famous, Grammy Award Winning artist is asked to grace us with their presence and share their precious, unique voice, on that historic stage. In closing, I want to clarify what I mean when I say “traditional." I have seen this word tossed around so often in the last couple of weeks, that I had to address it. I don’t want people to think I don’t like tradition. I LOVE traditions. But for all those people who complain about artists butchering the song, this had to be discussed. I am going to leave a sound clip of the National Anthem without riffs, or vibrato. Anything outside of what you hear from the recording takes it out of tradition. (This includes the smallest riff and other embellishments anyone will add to it). What does that mean? Most games, local, Patriotic, and state events in and outside the Super Bowl don’t sing it the “traditional” way. (Local Choirs not

...As soon as I saw the name of the foundation – Born This Way Foundation, I could not help myself clicking on the link and learn more about it. The Born This Way Foundation (BTWF) is an American non-profit organization founded in 2011 by singer Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta. This foundation was named after second studio album of hers – Born This Way. This amazing album was also expresses the idea of religion, freedom, feminism, and individualism, which is a perfectly suitable name for the foundation. Lady Gaga is one of my favorite singers and many people may know Lady Gaga only through her music talent and her “crazy” dress and looks, but what they don’t know is that she is not only a brilliant artist but also a kindhearted and respectable philanthropist. She cares about people, donates money for people after disasters and makes a lot of contribution for feminist and LGBT....

...Many of us dream about meeting a celebrity or an idol of ours. If I could meet a famous entertainer, I think it would be interesting to meet Lady Gaga, as she is musically creative and a philanthropist. In the following essay, I will explore the reasons why I feel this way. To begin with, Lady Gaga composed numerous songs that became famous all over the world. Nowadays it is difficult to find musicians that actually make art through music. For instance, in her most recent album, Lady Gaga not only combined different music genres creating a unique sonority, but also used references from popular culture and mythology to tell stories in a pleasing and conceptual fashion. Conversing with her would help me understand her creative process...

...of music for the younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete and lack accurate support. The most effective way for this continuous cycle ends, is if the fight and protest comes from the women themselves. Men are the problem in the objectification of women but in order for it to stop, women need to step up and take control of the situation. Women need to act sooner rather than later because in recent years the rap industry has become more and more sexual. Ra... ... middle of paper ... ...Society 113 (2000): 255-69. ...Gay Marriage Research Paper Did you know that only 17 states in the United States have officially legalized gay marriage? Some of these states include: California Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. Maryland became the first state to pass a statute banning marriage between same-sex couples on January 1st, 1973. Then, President Bill Clinton signs the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) into law on September 21st, 1996. The DOMA mandates unequal treatment of legally married same-sex couples. 3 years later, California becomes the first state to create a domestic partnership statute, on September 22, 1999 allowing same-sex couples to receive some, but not all, of the protections afforded by marriage. (History and Timeline of the Freedom to Marry in the United States). Gay marriage should be legalized in all states because it will boost the economy, it will provide health benefits for the couples , more children will get adopted, and because it can allow same-sex couples to visit their spouse in case they are at the hospital. Making gay marriage legal will boost the economy for sure. Why you ask? It is because the more marriages there are, the more money the state earns. Same-sex couples spend at an average of $9,039 on their weddings, while 31% spent $10,000 dollars or more. New York statistics show that after the first year of legalizing gay marriage, they gained $259 million dollars. (CNNMoney) . Also, according to a 2005 Stanford study cited by the Fiscal Times...

...PRACTICAL ACCOUNTING 2 1. Katy Perry developed an interesting idea for marketing sailboats in Death Valley. She interested Lady Gaga in joining her in a partnership. Following the information you have collected relative to their original contribution. Lady Gaga contributed P 30,000 cash, a track of land, and delivery equipment. Katy Perry contributed P 60,000 cash. After giving special consideration to the tax bases of the assets contributed, the relative usefulness of the assets to the partnership versus the problems of finding buyers for the assets and contributing cash, and other such factors, the partners agreed that Katy Perry’s contribution was equal to 40 percent of the partnership’s tangible assets, measured in terms of the fair value of the assets to the partnership. However, since marketing idea originated with Katy Perry, it was agreed that she should receive credit for 50 percent of the recorded capital. Recent sales of land similar to that contributed by Lady Gaga suggest a market value of P 40,000. Likewise, recent sales of delivery equipment similar to that contributed by Lady Gaga suggest P 40,000 as the market value of the equipment. These sales, of course, were not entirely representative of the particular assets contributed by Lady Gaga and therefore may be a better indicator of their relative values than their absolute values. In reflecting on their venture, the partners agree that it is a rather risky affair in respect to anticipated profits...

...Popular Culture Becomes Global Popular culture didn't require satellite television and the Internet to become global. When the first explorers took to the seas or traveled overland routes to distant places, they were influenced by, and returned with, examples of other cultures' popular art, artifacts and customs, such as drinking coffee. If that hadn't caught on, Starbucks would be stuck trying to sell cups of hot, frothy milk for three bucks a pop. The masses were usually not the first to experience exotic forms of popular culture, but they were exposed to them over time. The mixture of popular elements of different cultures was also one of the factors that began to blur the lines between popular and fine arts. While Kabuki Theater was accessible to all classes of Japanese people, Europe's aristocrats initially regarded it as high art. The Age of Industrialization: Relax, Enjoy In the case of popular arts especially (theater, dance, music and more recently movies and television), the masses must have sufficient time and resources to enjoy these arts. Technology is the catalyst that made this possible. Even though many 19th-century industrial laborers worked long hours, they did not generally work the dawn-to-dusk, seven-day-a-week schedules of agrarian toilers—cows need milking even on the Sabbath—and industrial laborers had more money in their pockets. This enabled them to enjoy entertainment venues and engage in hobbies, crafts and recreation outside their work lives....

Bullying

...Nicholette Marbley November 1 2013 Professor Whetstone Essay 2 Using humorous figures for an anti-bullying campaign wont work because no one will take it seriously At one point in our lives we have had our disagreements with friends. It might have gone as far as getting kicked out of a group. Its not fun being left out. Any form of bullying is not fun. Bullying has been around for ages. As longs as its been around you would have thought there would be a cure for it. If no one likes mean people, why are people so mean? Do we only pretend not to like mean people? This problem has escalated over the years, and has become more prevalent with todays technology. An example of this is seen in the scene of the movie Carrie. Carrie was a religious girl who was sheltered from wordly things. She did not know what her period was. She was taking a shower in the schools locker room when it happned. She ran over to the other girls screaming and crying. They then began to throw tampons at her. The leader of the group then began to record it and put it on youtube. The video was labled Bloody Mary. This resulted in the girl being banned from prom. On prom night she swiched the ballots so it looked liked Carrie and another boy were king and queen. When Carrie took her position on stage they poured pigs blood on her from a bucket hanging above her. They then started to play the video. Carrie took out her embarrassment and anger through her telekinesis. She then killed most of...

However the guidelines for packaging the test states [items need to be in a similar format, grouped together, test items need to be arranged from easy to hardest, have items properly spaced as well as checking for directions, clarity and proofreading the test before it is reproduced and distributed]. (Kubiszyn & Borich, p. 223 & 224).  It is very obvious these test questions lack validity and were poorly written, these test questions were more in line with the intended audience partaking in a survey. A survey question refers to the quantitative research or a statistical survey, for the sole purpose of collecting quantitative information about the general population or a product. Each of these test questions contained its own set of problems and uniqueness about them. For example every given answer had an asterisk mark beside of it and for any test taker this is a distraction, and the test itself was not formatted or lined up. A well-constructed test question is generally administered as a descriptive question, informal question or relational question, which is used to describe the subsistence of something. The informal question requires more than one outcome variables. The relational looks at the relationship essentially between genders. In my report I will discuss item response theory...
