...Fabulous First Grade Case Study: Thinking Outside The Box to Manage Disruptions Mary Gajnos First Grade Teacher Keller Elementary Green Bay, Wisconsin December 10, 2013 This is a case study of one of my first graders who began the year with what one would call quite a reputation for disrupting the class. In this study I will try to show how I had to reflect, change, and implement other strategies/methods in order for him to coexist in our classroom. As I write this about student M, I have just come from having a very tough day with another student that we are currently looking into trying the same strategies. I say this because I am a person who reflects daily on the happenings of the day and put myself through the “could of, should of, would of” scenario. As never having done a case study, I hope to show that by just being true, fair, and realistic to a vision; one can try their best to better themselves as well as the classroom they are in charge of. As I started researching this I found Maslow’s theory that states, “Unproductive behavior is not viewed as an indication of a bad child but rather as a reaction to the frustration of one’s basic needs not being met.” Student M came to first grade after a very traumatic kindergarten experience. I was able to observe this and at times thought “What am I going to do next year?” M comes from a background of mom and dad both being incarcerated last year and being “raised” by Spanish speaking grandma. I saw him throw...

...Louis Vuitton is known for using high quality raw materials in all of its products, the company has an empowering position to observe its products quality by marketing them through its own stores all over the world . Since the founding, the products are made by hand which differentiate the brand among its competitors in the industry. Before 2005, it took 20 to 30 craftsmen to put together each Louis Vuitton bag. Over the course of about eight days, separate workers would sew together leather panels, glue in linings and attach handles. For years the company paid far more attention to product design, craftsmanship and image than to the mechanics of keeping their stores stocked. With help from management consultants at McKinsey & Co., Vuitton set out to make its manufacturing process more flexible, borrowing techniques from car makers companies. Today, clusters of six to 12 workers, each of them performing several tasks, make LV-logo bags in a single day. The new settings improved company's production and the sales rose to 9% from the previous method of manufacturing. The reorganization extended beyond the factory floor. A distribution center in France used to send products directly to Vuitton's stores around the world. Now, the company is building a global distribution hub outside of Paris that will ship to six regional distribution centers: two in Japan, two elsewhere in Asia, one in the U.S. and one near Paris for European orders. Within a week of a product launch, stores...

...Grocery Shopping Walking through a grocery store you can find all different sorts of people. There’s the people that only need a few things and use a basket accordingly, there’s the people that have a smaller list and are not expecting to buy a lot but somehow when they get to the check out their cart is overflowing, or there’s always the person with three carts generously filled. It is the people that fill the baskets, carts and occasionally their own arms that keep a grocery store in business. Because of this, most employees are extremely polite and helpful when it comes to the customers; but that does not stop the customers from being rude not only to each other but to employees as well. The customers who need only a few things are often the rudest shoppers. Normally this is due to the fact that they are in a hurry. It seems as though they think the whole grocery store revolves around them and their few items. They weave in and out of other shoppers and cut off an employee that is trying to help another customer. When these shoppers need help finding something they are often demanding, impatient, and just plain rude. They tap their foot while an employee tries to find what they are looking, and if the employee comes back with bad news such as: they no longer carry that item, they are currently out of that item, or even they never had that item, that’s when the adult who should be mature and understanding throws a tantrum fit. They yell at the employee and demand to...

...this. Of the 20 players averaging 20-plus points since February 28, Leonard leads in field goal percentage (56.1%), turnovers (0.8 per game), and is the only player to average both 2.5-plus steals and 1.5-plus blocks. This across-the-board production was key to the Spurs' 4-0 record over the span and pushed Leonard to 6th in Yahoo! Fantasy rankings over the last two weeks. This increase in usage and health for Leonard has caused Danny Green's tremendous season to dip. He posted only 11.8 points, 2.5 3s, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks over his last four games. Leonard is surging at the perfect time for fantasy owners and the Spurs, who are making a push up the Western Conference standings. Don't look now, but the champs are just 3.5 games out of the third seed heading into Week...

...Wilt Chamberlain was a giant and played basketball like a champ should play. Larry bird was tall and skinny but had an incredibly smooth shot and was difficult to defend. He at one point led the nation in his 3 point shooting and astonished everyone. When the players in the NBA saw Michael Jordan rising up they must have thought he was going to be good but no one could have predicted how good he would turn out to be. Michael proved himself in his first year playing as a professional with his strength and determination to revive the Chicago Bulls and make them a great team once again. Basketball isn’t all about just having the skill, you have to love the game and play with passion and not let the little mistakes ruin the whole game for you’re team. It’s a sport of who’s team is molded together the best...

...management group, and increasing single & season ticket sales over a three year span. With the goal to build a “winning NBA franchise,” we will first focus on the aspects of improving the culture and employing a new face for the team. With this, it will provide a more attractive setting for “big name” free agents to come join the Warriors and bring them back into a respectable state. With the marketing strategy that I will implement, it will give the Warriors increased amount of leverage against the other 30 NBA organizations by increasing the market share by at least 4.36%. With every available free agent in the market, the Golden State Warriors have a 3.33% chance which does not include the 12 big market teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. Of the 12 big market NBA teams, they share an 8.33% percent chance as a result to the glamour of their team and culture. My goal is to raise the standard percentile of 3.33% to at least 7.69% which will now be a split between 13 different NBA teams. As a franchise and its profitability, the...

...wasn’t long ago that I was a young boy cheering on the Lakers from my home in SoCal. I watched in awe as one of the great dynasties in NBA history dismantled one opponent after the next. Kobe Bryant was a young superstar being called the next Jordan and Shaq was making his defenders look like Sunday brunch. Those were the days when I was a diehard fan, watching countless games, idolizing the skilled athletes, and wishing to be in their shoes someday. In recent years, however, I’ve lost all interest in the NBA and the disgrace of a league that it’s become. So, how did this all happen? How did I go from being the biggest basketball fan I know to a despiser of the league and everything it represents? Let’s go back to the days when I was first followed basketball. I was in elementary school and some of my friends were Lakers fans. I watched a few games with them and really got into the action. I loved everything about the Lakers, from their players, to their history, to the color of their jerseys. I followed the team religiously as they won multiple championships. I couldn’t believe the team that played just an hour from where I lived was experiencing such tremendous success. They’d just won their third straight title and I couldn’t have been happier. The year they signed Payton and Malone was when my love for the game reached its peak. Watching five future hall of famers on the same team was incredible. Of course, the Lakers lost to the Pistons in the finals that year, and everything...

...career a few weeks ago against the Golden State Warriors. He tore his Achilles tendon, and had surgery to repair it the next day. That injury forced Kobe to miss this seasons playoffs. He is expected to return in the next six to nine months. I don’t remember why or how I started to like Kobe Bryant, I just know I have been a fan of his ever since I can remember. Kobe Bryant was drafted sixteenth overall in 1996 by the Charlotte Hornets, and was then traded to the Los Angels Lakers on draft day. He won the slam dunk contest as a rookie. Just four years into his career. Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal teamed up to win three straight NBA championships. After losing in the NBA Finals in 2004, the Lakers traded Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe became the cornerstone for the Lakers. In 2006, Bryant scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in NBA history. In 2008, Kobe won the NBA most valuable player award. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Kobe led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the NBA Finals MVP Award on both occasions. Overall, Kobe Bryant is an incredible player and one of the greatest basketballs players of all time. At 34, his years are numbered, but he still has a lot left in the tank. I think the thought of matching Michaels Jordan’s 6 championships keeps Kobe motivated. One day I hope he gets that 6th...

...Kobe vs. Lebron Two of the most polarizing figures in the NBA today are Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Kobe Bryant and Lebron James come on the top of the list just because of their remarkable performances and their achievements throughout their careers. They both have started their sports career from the school age and then they excelled in their respective sports of basketball. Kobe Bryant plays as a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers and Lebron James plays for the Miami Heat. Lebron James also referred as a “King James” just because of his moves and his utmost versatility in basketball, while Kobe is referred to as the “Black Mamba”. Although they may seem to be alike the two are very different in their own respects. For instance, both players have the ability to score the ball. Kobe is a natural born scorer; many call him one of the greatest offensive players to ever play the game. Kobe averages nearly 26 points per game over his 17 year pro career; anywhere on the court Kobe is a threat because of his basketball fundamentals and ability to score from anywhere on the court. Lebron on the other hand, is also a good scorer but is not considered to be on the level of Kobe Bryant. Lebron averaging nearly 25 points per game through his career which is not bad, but he is challenged to work extremely hard for his points. However, Lebron in terms of physicality is way above Bryant. Weighing in at 260 pounds of muscle and is listed at the height of 6’9 Lebron...

...Could you imagine being nineteen years old and making five million dollars a year? Kobe Bryant, the son of former NBA player Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, jumped directly from high school to the pros in 1996 and enjoyed an impressive rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He also won the Nestle Crunch slam-dunk contest, and was the leading scorer in the Rookie Game during the NBA all-stars Weekend. Kobe Bryant could very well become one of the best basketball players to ever step on a basketball court. Kobe's parents named him after a type of steak (Kobe) seen on a restaurant menu prior to his birth. This type of steak is very popular in Japan. Bryant is also fluent in Italian. Even though Bryant plays in the NBA, he is still a kid at heart and makes time for playing video games. He has two older sisters, Sharia and Shaya. Bryant was the all-time leading scorer in Southeastern Pennsylvania history with 2,883 points, breaking the marks of NBA legend and Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain (2,359 points) and former St. Joseph's player Carlin Warley (2,441 points). Bryant led his high school team to a 77-13 record in last three seasons and was a four-year starter. His father, Joe, played eight NBA seasons for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers and Houston Rockets, and is a former assistant coach at La Salle. As a senior at Lower Merion High School, USA Today and Parade Magazine selected Bryant as the National High School Player of the Year. He was also named Naismith Player...

...This offseason is very pivotal for the Philadelphia 76ers as they have a ton of cap space to acquire a superstar player. The Sixers finished the regular season with 52 wins and won a first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat, could use LeBron James, Paul George or Kawhi Leonard. James and George will cost a hefty amount in free agency, while Leonard would have to be acquired in a trade. Speaking of Leonard, the San Antonio Spurs forward missed most of the season with a debilitating quad injury, putting a strain between him and the front office. That strain led people to speculate that Leonard does not want to be in San Antonio anymore. Therefore, the Spurs started to receive trade offers for the superstar forward, beginning with...

...The Golden State Warriors have the Cleveland Cavaliers right where they want them. The Dubs are up 3-1 in the NBA Finals and will play Game 5 at home at Oracle Arena. The Warriors record at home during the regular season was 39-2, and during the postseason, 11-1. If that isn’t gloomy enough for the Cavs, no team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals to win the title. So, if history is any indicator, it appears that LeBron James and the Cavaliers are about to lose in the NBA Finals for the second year in a row to the Warriors, which would put Golden State point guard Stephen Curry in an exclusive group of players to win back-to-back regular season MVPs and NBA championships. James’ record in the NBA Finals stands at 2-4, which looks like it’s about to be 2-5. It seems like the Warriors are a much deeper and, frankly, much better basketball team than the Cavs. That said, I think we should take a few moments to appreciate what LeBron is doing for his team. While it’s absolutely true that James has committed 23 turnovers through the first four games of the series, he has also been the Cavs’ best player. Herein lies the problem with being “King James”. He’s supposed to beat a historically great basketball team, one of the greatest of all time, and his team isn’t playing well. He’s under the microscope, and every play and mistake is under intense scrutiny. Let’s look at James’ numbers through the first four games of the 2016 NBA Finals: 24.8 points per game, 11...
