Lance Armstrong is a world famous cyclist that has won many races including seven of the famous Tour de France (one of the worlds’ famous cycling races). He has been through many obstacles in his life including having to go through the process of overcoming testicular cancer that had spread to a lot of different parts of his body. He is one of the many lucky people in the world that was able to survive testicular cancer. Armstrong has been a true inspiration to many people in the world and has won a lot of awards. In the past couple years there has been many people debating whether Lance Armstrong deserved all the attention he got and all the prizes because they are saying that he was using drugs the whole time he was racing and that’s the reason he was winning.
Ok for paragraph one. 1. Instead of saying cancer that had spread to allot of different parts of his body, why not name them? 2. How is he lucky? What percentages of people survive testicular cancer you should include a reference in there. 3. How does his debate on people claiming to use drugs tie in the paper? In the article, “Lance Armstrong: World Champion Cyclist” by Layne Cameron, the author talks about all the different races Lance Armstrong has been in and how he finally made it to be the world champion in cycling. The author, Layne Cameron, explains how Lance Armstrong had to overcome testicular cancer and how much work and effort he had to put into getting to where he is standing at the time. When this article was published in 1994, people’s views and perspectives were so much different than they are now. People thought of Lance Armstrong as a true inspiration and a true fighter for what he wanted and believed he could achieve. Lance Armstrong to them was the kind of person who in spite of any illness, in his case testicular cancer, any obstacle, any tribulation he might have been through he always overcame it and that meant a lot to them at that time. People’s perspective of Lance Armstrong was that of a person to look up to because he had had the courage and strength to do all that he did.
I think you should start off paragraph 1 with “ Lance Armstrong: World Champion Cyclist” by layne Cameron, is what Lance Armstrong was titled. Then state in this srtical the author talks about all the different races Lance Armstrong has been in and how he finally made it to be the world champion in cycling. Then go into dept tell the reader how he overcame this cancer etc all in paragraph to. The article, “Can Livestrong Survive Lance?” by Chuck Salter, the author talks about The Lance Armstrong Foundation, also known as Livestrong and how Lance Armstrong was accused of using drugs to win all the races he has raced including all of the Tour de France’s he has won. Chuck Salter mentions that during this time the Federal Government was trying see if Lance Armstrong was really involved with using these drugs, preforming-enhancing ones to be exact, in order to win the Tour de France seven times. When the article “Can Livestrong Survive Lance?” was published in 2010, people’s perspective was changed dramatically. Lance Armstrong was once seen as him being a fair, well respected and really admired person. But when the whole drug enhancing situation came out the views of him being what he once was thought to be changed into a negative format. Now people thought of him as being a greedy, selfish, cheater. They thought that all the things that everyone was talking about him, like how he was a true inspiration for everyone dealing with cancer and other problems were all lies. According to the article “Can Livestrong Survive Lance?” the world lost their trust in Lance Armstrong. Even his own Foundation (The Lance Armstrong Foundation “Livestrong”) was questioning whether he had done such thing or whether it was something that someone was making up. Peoples perspective on Lance Armstrong changed drastically they now viewed him as someone who has ultimately cheated his way to become a famous athlete.
Ok in this paragraph you kept repeating his use of drugs and how peoples views changed, which is fine. But how is the aspect of view now? You should start off the paragraph in what his foundation is etc then go into the whole debate as it will tie it into paragraph two.
People’s perspectives of anyone and anything change throughout time no matter what the situation might have been. When the article “Lance Armstrong: World Champion Cyclist” by Layne Cameron was published in 1994, Lance Armstrong was seen as a true inspiration to a whole lot of people in the world. They were all so happy for him because he was this poor man that in spite of having a terrible illness, testicular cancer, was able to overcome it and eventually be named the world champion not only once but seven times. People were so into Armstrong that they never thought of anything wrong he might have of had done during that time period. But as soon as the article “Can Livestrong Survive Lance?” by Chuck Salter that was published in 2010 came out for people to see, and everyone started hearing about the different things that Lance Armstrong might have been doing during the races, like the use of performance – enhancing drugs, in order to win the different races their perspective of him changed real quick. It was so quick that the same Lance Armstrong who was once a trustworthy guy in 1994 became a guy that no one wanted to trust in 2010. Even though there he might say he wasn’t doing anything there is no evidence to really show that he wasn’t. Peoples views change into either a good one or into a bad one and in Lance Armstrong’s case it had to unfortunately change into a bad one.
